Here's my question...

What is recommended in a detail of a 1964 Impala with original paint? There's no clear coat, only the original acrylic paint.

It's my father-in-laws car and is 98+% original. He is considering selling it soon and wants it detailed to attract more attention.

Any suggestions? I'll do my usual wash, clay (if needed but I doubt it), and wax. I won't use any power tools as I'm nervous about no clear. Do you think that will be enough?

The color is a light blue with matching interior. I won't be touching the inside as it is spotless. To give a little insight, he's owned this car for twleve years and has put a total of nearly 6000 miles on it.

Try a chemical paint cleaner. That'll clean off any dead paint and restore some shine. Then you could check the paint and see if you'll need and abrasive polish or go straing to wax...
