View Full Version : Exterior plastic panels?

Doing a white Avalanche today, already in good shape. It has the lwoer panles made of bumpy/rough grey plastic/abs or whatever. These won't need any cleaner, but what shoudl I use to make them shine and potected? AIO, EXP. 303 protectant? Wanna make sure before I even mess with them, woudl ahet to mess them up:(

stoner's trim shine is good for the textured surface (seeing as it's an aerosol). 303, trim restorer, and natural look at also usable, just make sure that you THOROUGHLY buff off the excess or you're not going to be happy the next time the panel gets wet.

All I have is 303 or DP interior.
OOH, I do have DP Spray surface sealant?

Both Black Again and New Again can be used on EVERY color trim.

if not buffed enough, and those products get wet, 303 runs and NL/TR get greasy and gooey

Try Meguiars Trim Detailer. First degrease the surface and apply with a pad/brush. This will give a natural shine.

live and learn ... but you will likely be sorry. Those panels are not very porous and first rain is gonna make a mess.

thats actually a paint sealant , but might try on a small spot.

That doesn't matter, because Exterior Trim Detailer is a white liquid.

It doesn't cover up by using a black shoe cream putty that is applied on top of the polish. like most other trim detailers do

My wife drives a 2004 Expedition. It has those wide plastic side trim panels. I've found Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel to work great. Looks fabulous, lasts a long time even after rain and washes. But like Neo says, make sure you buff well. Just apply and wait about 30 minutes before buffing.
