I am new to this activity but I've ordered a new Limerock green Corvette and I want to be prepared to make and keep the finish absolutely beautiful from the start. I've never really had a fancy car before and as I'm 65 now, I've got to start from ground zero in the detailing arena. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best thing to do would be to start a "dedicated thread" and give it a title that will make the right people >>>CLICK<<< on it to post their replies.

Right now the title of your thread reads,

Hello from the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan

From just the title alone no one can tell you have questions about how to take care of a brand new Corvette.

Have no fear however as I know hos forums work and I wrote two article YEARS ago to help people help themselves....

This is another good one to read before typing out questions,....

You'll discover quite a number of "mature" guys on this forum with Corvette's, ask me how I know!

Thanks Mike. I found your piece on the Corvette Forum about detailing a new 2014 and have acquired the black surface cleansing polish, the diamond surface coating and XTM wax.

I've seen how these cars come to the dealer with a white cloth "suit" on them... the car should be delivered within a month and I only have around 80 miles to drive it to my house. The air is usually quite clean up here in Northern Wisconsin and the U.P. so it shouldn't get much in the way of contaminates on the finish before I start with the detailing.

I have done a bit of research on polisher/buffers and figured I would go with the Harbor Freight (Chinese) machine as the Porter Cable had too many negative reviews, especially on the rotation part of "dual action" and I just don't think it's worth laying out $400 for something I would probably use only a few times a year. (Your thoughts?) What pads would you recommend?

Thanks,
Nick

Congratulations on the new Vette and welcome to AGO! :welcome:

Fishing is always good... sometimes better than others, it's relative. What do you fish for?
