This person did a $25 wash and wax on this 2014 highlander. He must have got dirt in his wash mitt to scratch it like this.

What a mess, they look like light scratches but they were so deep.

I did not have time to take any close up shots of the damage after i fixed them because of the time frame i had to work on it. I got almost all of the scratches out.

Good work. I think you'll be happy with the MF discs. I know I enjoy the flexibility - being able to switch easily between the Xtra Cut, Cut, and Polishing Discs is great, and they're much easier to clean than foam pads...

What did they wash the car with, steel wool?

You did a great job fixing it!

Great fix mate, I bet that's the kind of results she was expecting to see after the $25 wash and wax... People are so imaginative these days! However, the cheap at first always goes expensive at the end.

Luckily she found you.

You did an awesome work, thanks for sharing.

Kind Regards.

Nice save!

And this is why so often on this forum I use the word touch or touching in the context of how long a wax will last or in this case how to avoid scratches always comes down to how the paint is touched and what it's touched with.

Generally speaking clearcoat paints tend to be harder than traditional single stage paint technology but they still scratch very easily. Because they tend to be hard, it's becomes difficult to easily and quickly remove the scratches.

Clearcoats are Scratch-Sensitive (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/74234-clearcoats-scratch-sensitive.html)

It's all about the touching of the paint....

At least she brought it to someone who does know how to touch that paint. Nice work.

I say that one wash job didn't do this much damage. Look at the amount of scratches in just one area. What was the guy doing? Standing there talking to someone and just kept rubbing the same spot. I think she just blamed him for her lack of previous proper washing.

no I know the guy that did this to the car he said he was trying to get the bugs and so tar off the car. He said he was using microfiber tawels from walmart. He was the one who paid for me to fix it. (I seen this every day it's a Coe worker

The old saying; "You get what you pay for" for the most part hold true to form. While $25 isn't inexpensive for a car wash I'm wondering where she found this offer?

More times that I can remember, the corner gas station lets high school kids have a car wash to raise money for their cause. I've seen donations range from $5.00 to $20.00 for a wash. While it's great to support these events you should "expect" damage to the cars finish.

Five or six kids with buckets of soapy water and sponges, cloths, and bath towels attacking every square inch of the finish isn't for the faint of heart.........but it is fun to watch....

Nice work on saving the finish and what a great color! :props:

Great job!!! Way to turn that one around. And I hear you on the Flex. Just picked one up last week and it's night and day over a traditional DA.

Keep it up!!!

Bobby, I'm over here laughing! You made it sound like all out war being taken to the clear coat by an army of kids armed to the teeth with Brillo pads!!!

I've got a problem wit this........do you know POSITIVELY that the wash caused all this? You personally saw it immediately before and after? Sorry but I have a problem with this claim and recovery.

Where indeed?
I was at a Hennessy dealership not long after my surgery and they had signs up, "Hand Wash $19.95", then to the right of that there was one that took my breath away;
"Full Detail $69.95".

The same dealership is where the body shop manager sends US business! He's referred other body shops to us, as well as insurance companies. :props: He even conferred with me prior to delving into a coating for his black on black on black HD Electra Glide. ;)

She probably thought : "Hey, 25$ for wash and wax, he must be a real pro... normally I see it at 6,99$ everywhere".
