This car is another dealership story. Rotary in the wrong hands= holograms all over the place. Then went to another shop and they didnt remove them. Not only that, but there were still swirls and scratches under the holograms. Also stained trim and wax residue all over. Other then that, the paint was very nice. Had very nice flakes.

Exterior Only detail

Wash/ Clay
Presoak with pressure washer foam gun
2 bucket method with CG CWnG and Edge white mitt
Clayed with Mothers. Felt like it had been clayed recently. But I wanted to go over it myself.

Polish/ Sealant
The clear was HARD on this car. Had holograms all over the place! Started out with 106FF and CCS orange pad on the hood. That got rid of the holograms no problem. But upon further inspection there were still swirls and scratches. So went over it again with SIP and CCS yellow pad, then 106FF and orange pad again.

The rest of the car either got 106FF and yellow pad, or SIP and orange pad. Spots that got SIP were went over again with 106FF and white pad.

After polish was completed, I rinsed the car and gave it an alcohol wipe down for sealant. The sealant I used on this car was WG DGS. Dont have any complaints about this sealant. It did mute the flakes a little though.

Tires/ Wheels/ Wheel Wells/ Door Jams/ Windows
Tires cleaned with DP Gel, dressed with AA foam
Wheels cleaned with PB S&R, then DP Gel. Polished with DP wheel glaze. The front wheels had a large dust shield which didnt allow me to clean the entire wheel. Was thinking of removing them, but made out with just putting the car on ramps and getting under it to clean the other half of the wheel.
Wheel wells cleaned with Amazing Roll Off, dressed with AA foam.
Door jams got DG #921
Windows were polished with CK VMG and CCS orange pad.

Pictures Before
Paint was too light to see any swirls/ scratches in pictures. But you can see the holograms here. They were everywhere. Even on the roof between the little ridges.

Nice work! This is one of the few cars my wife likes, besides the X5 and the Cayenne

Oooooh very nice, that is a nice color vehicle. You got a nice combo going on there. Question why was the vehicle on the ramps? Just wondering.

Wheels cleaned with PB S&R, then DP Gel. Polished with DP wheel glaze. The front wheels had a large dust shield which didnt allow me to clean the entire wheel. Was thinking of removing them, but made out with just putting the car on ramps and getting under it to clean the other half of the wheel.

The dust shield basically cut the wheel in half. So I couldnt get my EZ brush through all the way. So I put it on ramps, and got under the car with the EZ brush to get the other half. If that didnt work then I was going to have to remove the front wheels.

Thanks. Every single car I do gets that kind of detail. If Im doing inside and out, then I keep the car for 2 days. Inside gets 3-5 hours, outside gets 8- 10 hours. Im sure that sounds ridiculous to some, but I guess you could say I have a different style of detailing. The only person on here that probably takes as long, or probably longer then me is Toto. I would love to be able to detail like him one day.

No problem. I could of used your Sun Gun for this car. It was hard to see the scratches even with the 1000 watt halogens. Had to inspect each panel for a min. at weird angles after polishing.

This car was also another reminder of why I need to practice with my rotary. Probably could have taken care of everything with the rotary and 106FF with orange pad at 1500rpm.

Would of loved to slap on a coat of Sig Series II or Max Wax. But decided a sealant was the way to go.

You could def say that I DO let the perfect get in the way of the good.

Yea that's one thing I've noticed that with regular lights you have to play around with the angles and it just makes it hard to polish with out being able to see the scratches/swirls. Sun Gun is a nice tool. I know what you mean about the 1000 watt halogens, you'd think it would be strong enough though huh.
