And here it was, our first vehicle actually freighted in for us to work on.

The freighter was as impressive as what was inside! What fantastic car awaited us inside this beautiful beast? (Well if you read the title you'd already know! But I'm going to be all dramatic #anyway so play along!)

It was in good company as you can see. Brand new 458 Italia up top :) But our focus was what was on the first floor...

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1100995.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1100995.jpg)

This Tesla Model S was purchased by our customer who lived in Tucson, but was in Seattle when it was completed so he took delivery of it there. A couple of days after, he was to come back home to Tucson, but rather than have his Tesla shipped to him, he had it brought up to us for a New Car Prep detail with CQuartz Finest. (http://windowsandwheels.com/services-packages/cquartz-finest-info/)

While we have done quite a few Tesla's already, to have one shipped to us from Washington, was surely a first.

Yup yup, there she is. With only 250 miles on it...ready to be pampered the W&W way.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1100997.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1100997.jpg)

Gotta do at least one photo with us right ?

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110002.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110002.jpg)

Ok maybe two lol, Dani giving the "Thumbs Up!"

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110003.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110003.jpg)

It didn't take long for us to get to work...checking out the car in the sun to see if we spotted any swirls, sanding marks or other defects.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110004.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110004.jpg)

It didn't take me long before i spotted an area that had be de-nibbed with a dual-action sander...sanding marks left for us to take care of...

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110005.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110005.jpg)

Yup, see..told ya so.

A few smaller defects were visible as well

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110007.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110007.jpg)

Bye bye Plycar - the owner said they were top of the line for auto transport - i have to say having seen their rig and delivery first hand...I'm going #to have to #agree!

Now that the fun was over, it was time for the work to being. #First up ...prep wash.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110011.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110011.jpg)

Foam those tires!

Both wheel barrels and wheel faces are cleaned

One down, 3 to go.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110020.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110020.jpg)

Dani knows i like to foam the tires hehe

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110022.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110022.jpg)

Next it was time to clean the car via Iron X Snow Foam soap...awesome car soap for prep washing. Cleans very well...and is very safe for the paint...plus it foams like mad.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110024.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110024.jpg)

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110025.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110025.jpg)

Think thick foam...

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110027.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110027.jpg)

After hand washing, Dani rinsed everything with spotless water.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110028.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110028.jpg)

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110029.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110029.jpg)

Next up, decontamination. For us, this #is a 2-part process. First, Iron X is sprayed onto the car to help dissolve bonded iron contaminates from the paint.

But wait this is a new car right? Yes...but even new cars need this to be done. Rail dust from being freighted is not uncommon even on new cars.

The purple looking dots seen above is Iron-X working to safely dissolve these contaminates.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110030.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110030.jpg)

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110031.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110031.jpg)

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110032.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110032.jpg)

There was some sticky type residue on a couple of spots, possible tape residue from the cover upon initial delivery? Tar-X is a very good adhesive remover and took care of this with no problem.

After this was complete, we then used a decontaminate cloth (like a clay bar) to remove any left over bonded contaminates...insuring the paint was totally smooth.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110039.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110039.jpg)

Next, it was into the garage for its polish, gotta bring out that gloss!

Trim was all taped off so that the polishing pads would not hit it.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110040.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110040.jpg)

This was Dani's job ..bless her heart.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110041.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110041.jpg)

Brand new baby, all the way from Washington!

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110046.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110046.jpg)

Now it was time to do an inspection. The top was the worst of course...quite a few swirls and scratches were up there and were very visible since it was black.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110047.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110047.jpg)
After polishing however...it looked crystal clear...as it should...

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110049.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110049.jpg)

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110050.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110050.jpg)

Dani wiping off the polish from the hood after doing her first section.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110052.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110052.jpg)

A few deep straight line scratches were visible under direct LED light...but we'd be taking care of those.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110053.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110053.jpg)

And here are those pesky DA sanding marks we showed you earlier....quite the eye sore when you catch them in the light.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110056.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110056.jpg)

They however, cleared right up after a couple of passes with our Rupes 21. This is how the paint should look.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110054.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110054.jpg)

I just thought it looked cool...lol

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110057.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110057.jpg)

Dani polishing away on the rear bumper...

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110058.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110058.jpg)

After all the paint had been polished, it was then time to wipe down the paint with Eraser. This removes any left over polishing oils and insures that the CQuartz Finest coating has #a totally clean and oil free surface to bond to. The wheel faces too were wiped down with eraser and coated and the tires were dressed with Carpro's PERL.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110067.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110067.jpg)

Clean and glossy!

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110068.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110068.jpg)

In the mean time i was busy applying 2 coats of CQuartz Finest to all of the paint....glossy!!

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110069.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110069.jpg)

When Dani finished the wheels she jumped in and helped me complete the coating of the paint. Its amazing that even on white, this coating looks so amazing. To have the hard core protection that it offers AND to look this awesome just gives you the best of both worlds.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110071.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110071.jpg)

Here she was later that evening after we had completed it.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110074.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110074.jpg)

Such a sexy car!

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110087.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110087.jpg)

Now of course, this wouldn't be a proper write up if there were no sun shots....luckily we were able to keep the car overnight, made sure it was fully charged for the owner...and then got to snap a few pictures the next morning...

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110088.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110088.jpg)

Good morning beauuuuuutiful!

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110090.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110090.jpg)

There were gloss reflections of the gloss showing on the gloss....yes...yes there was.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110091.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110091.jpg)

There is always a little bit of pressure when someone brings you their BRAND NEW car and says...here, make it look better. But so far we have yet to disappoint....its always great to have an owner tell you "Wow, this really does look better than new!" It feels good and it's what we push for with every job.

.....note that its a little bit more than a "little bit" of pressure when someone FREIGHTS you in their new TESLA from out of state...just saying lol

Back to the pictures!!!

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110094.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110094.jpg)

It's hard to take a bad picture when you have such an awesome car posing for you, looking its "Finest"

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110095.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110095.jpg)

Black insert up front was polished and coated as well...looking deep and gorgeous.

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110100.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110100.jpg)

Up top looking as good as down low!

http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110108.jpg (http://windowsandwheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/P1110108.jpg)

And alas, here she was...awaiting pick up.
Oddly enough, we never got to meet the owner. We had a mobile job to go do on another vehicle and had to actually arrange for our mom to give the owner the keys when he made his way up. The following day i called the owner to make sure everything was up to his expectations...and he assured me that he was very satisfied. He then went on to tell me that he would be going to his first Cars and Coffee meet up that weekend down in Tucson.

Now here is something funny....a few months before this, we actually did ANOTHER white Tesla, from Tucson. The owner of this first white Tesla sent me an email a week after we finished the Tesla shown above...and it stated the following:

"Hello Wills!

Hope things are going well for you.# Met a Tesla owner yesterday here in Tucson with a white P85 who said he just has his car cleaned and coated by you and your sister after having had it shipped down from Seattle.# He seemed pretty happy and the car looked great!"

Tell me this isn't a small world! Crazy!

This was a very fun...and unique detail for us...and hopefully it will not be our last.

I hope you all enjoyed the write-up and the very cool car we had the pleasure of working on. We will be doing our first Pacific Blue Metallic Tesla next week...I can't wait.

Thanks again for reading and I hope to be back soon with another sweet ride for everyone to enjoy.

Great write up! I particularly like reading threads like this when text calls as much attention as the pictures. Sure it was a perfect job, but the whole story behind this was really exciting.

Thanks for sharing this top notch work, and congratulations for both.

Kind Regards.

Excellent job! Always enjoy reading your write-ups. What size and what kind of pads did you use on the Rupes 21 and what did you use for the polish?

Thank you for taking the time to look. I'm glad it grabbed your attention :). And i agree, the story was what really got me..like i said, we had done tesla's before...which is always fun...but THIS....this was nuts for us lol

Thanks Frank :) We were using the 6" white buff n' shine pads and i BELIEVE we used Megs 205 on this one...for smaller areas we used the 4" green BnS pads with the Rupes 75 air polisher.

Great work guys again. I know that transportation company very well. As a matter of fact, I know the owners and yes I agree, they are one of the best in business for transporting vehicles in USA. Once again, great work.

Thank you for taking the time to read through it. Always glad to know you all still like my write ups lol

Awesome work and the car is a work of art:buffing:

I agree, such an awesome car...i just read that the owner of Tesla opened up all of the patents that tesla has...that was CRAZY! But he said he did it to help advance the electric car in general...i think it was a very gutsy but admirable move.

I was glad to see their transport service in person. Ive had a few bad situations from customers telling me they just had their ride transported and it was beat up..heel marks down the door from the driver climbing in/out..just bad stuff :-\...Plycar seems very legit though and thats awesome you actually know the owner, i hope you get hooked up with work from that!

I agree, especially a vehicle like :)

Wow attention to detail, excellent work!

Thank you so much :)
