How many towels to order?

Hey guys,
I'm about to do a big order on microfiber towels. Basically starting over again with quality towels. My question is, how many to order? I want enough to do a 2 stage paint correction and LSP. This would be for a small sedan (Acura TSX).

I think 20 would probably do it. That is 6 for each step and two for waste. I probably burn through about that many give or take. I finished two details and used about 30-40 of different types. That is just for the exterior...

get as many as you can afford. i'm pretty sure i have well over 100 towels of different levels for different purposes. that is one thing i'm sure you are well aware of, is you can never have enough of them.

I like to have separate towels for compound removal, polish removal, and LSP removal. I like a bit more plush for the 2 ladder steps. If you are aiming to have enough just for your sedan, 6 each would be minimum.

Over 9000 lol, just kidding, Imo, You should order enough to do each part of what the towels will but used for and some extra. I will need about 5 for a quick detailer wipe down. a couple for just on the side, about 10 for wax and / or 1 step or 2 step paint correction, etc.

The 3-6 towels per step are fine. It's very easy to order more than you need...a lot of us on here are MF towel addicts. You have a TSX so it's not a huge car--my recommendations?

Tire/Wheel Cleaning: 3
Wheel protectant: 2
Compound/Polish towels can be the same: 6 (3 for cpd and 3 for light polish)
LSP towels: depends...using a wax or sealant only (3-6), if you use a coating you will need additional short nap towels you don't mind tossing if they get too much product on them and it hardens.
Clay/QD: 3 (6 if you want to use these as rinseless-wash towels)
Interior Towels: 3 inexpensive ones
Glass towels: 3
Drying towel: Cobra Guzzler Combo; has 2 towels in the package

Total: 25-31 realistically imo

I try to use 1 towel per 2 panels with the hood and roof being counted as 2 panels each. I have an Accord and use about 7-8 towels per step. I use some 530's I ordered on ebay (don't feel as nice as the other 530's I have) for compound removal only. Use my better 530's for polish and LSP removal. So, if you have any older higher gsm MF's that you are going to keep, keep them for compound removal and buy enough new good towels for polish and LSP removal. So 25-30 would probably be enough as a "minimum".

If you are going to purely start all over as you say, then get 10-15 360's for compound removal and 25-30 500+ gsm for polish and LSP. 500+ are good for rinseless washes too.

I could easily order over 100 towels. I have enough towels that interior and wheel cleaning isn't a worry. From reading you all's posts, I think I'll be ordering around 30.

The MF towels they use over at Meguiars are the same as the Costco ones.

Yep...I start with the cheapest towel that will do the job and work my way up if needed. Most details are done start to finish with cheap towels. If you have a million clean towels lying beside you you're more apt to use a clean one when you need it. If you have 30 plush towels laying there you have a tendency to try to use every inch of the towel before switching. I probably have over 100 cheap towels and another 100 expensive towels. For some reason I got on a big towel kick for a while. Those are fun. You can polish an entire car with one of those.
