I dont know, maybe I need to wet sand them but I dont think I am going to go that far for this car. The paint other wise looks pretty darn good.

These are on the trunk of my 2002 Bonneville, factory paint. From when I bought the car, previous owner just used it as a mode of transport and probably put stuff on the trunk all the time.

I have tried Meguiars UC with OPT MF pad and with yellow foam both on my rotary, obviously neither of them took the scratches out. They all seem to pass the fingernail test (I cant feel them with my nail)

Here they are, anyone have any other suggestions?

If they are passing the fingernail test, try stepping up to a more aggressive polish or compound. I find Meg's UC to cut more like a medium polish than a compound. What other polishes and compounds do you have at your disposal? Also your pics aren't showing much clarity in the reflection of the shop light so I'm guessing something may be a bit off in your technique or maybe there is a hefty amount of orange peel in your CC?

Can you feel the scratch with your fingernail?

It may be too deep and you may want to use some sort of paint touch up and then some clear coat

Factory GM Clear Coat from 2002 so probably orange peel like mad.

As far as compounds I have XMT #4, UC, Meguiars M105, and Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover

Not positive but I think I remember trying 105 on it a year ago. I dunno. Im not going to wet sand and polish the whole car that's for sure.

You could try M105 with a Megs microfiber cutting pad. That is if you have a microfiber pad. If not try it with foam. But I think these may be to deep.

LOL, is anyone reading the post? I said in the first post I have the Optimum MF pad. Cutting pad and a Polishing pad.

Based off this picture and just seeing them through a picture and not in person. A good majority of the scratches in this picture look like they'll come out. However, the scratch next to the arrow looks like it'll be more challenging to remove. Plus the car is 12 years old and since you got the vehicle used, who knows how it was previously maintained. So you might have to proceed with caution...

I wet sanded scratches this past Saturday on the job I did. I think the scratches were from wind, dirt and car cover.

We tried compound, wool pad on the Rupes and it got similiar results like the ones you got. (Not saying do this) but we wet sanded with 1500, 3000. Then buffed with Hybrid wool pad, FG400 on the Rupes.

Came out really good, the owner couldn't see them anymore.

I made a video on it, but not sure if I'll be allowed to post it here for everyone to watch. So I am going to ask the AG moderators for permission first.

It is on my YouTube channel if you want to see.

The top picture was how they looked before we tried anything and the bottom picture was how they looked after compound and wool pad. The remaining scratches we just wet sanded them out.

I would lightly scuff the area with some 3000 grit wet / dry paper and some water. For 1 lil-old scratch, I'd use the tip of my finger with light pressure. Be careful not to sand too much otherwise you'll breach the clear coat...
