BMW Experts! - Is this a rare BMW? (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/81354-bmw-experts-rare-bmw.html)

Like I share in my article on, how to use a discussion forum to detail an engine compartment (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/20328-how-use-discussion-forum-detail-engine.html), none of us can be an expert on every car ever made and I'm certainly no expert on classic BMW's.

So what say you? Is this a unique or rare BMW?

I have no idea. I just remember when my mom was looking to buy a car as a present for my dad, that was one of the cars I was pushing her to buy (instead of a MB). He apparently said no to a car though, and we all went on a cruise instead.

Hi Mike!

Yes this is somewhat of a rare BMW for the North American market.

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/BMW_6_Series_(E24))

I don't know why I can't get the exact link above to come through?

Search e24 BMW on that link.

It's pretty rare in Europe too Mike!

My grandfather had a black one.

If anyone has ever heard of a BMW nicknamed "The Shark" these are it.

From here it looks like it's a chromed front bumper, right hand drive car.
Pretty rare...as far as the total number of this combination manufactured.

Dollar value?

How rare is a BMW 635CSi? (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1996463-How-rare-is-a-BMW-635CSi)

BMW M Registry - FAQ E24 M635CSi + M6 (http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=5)

These may help. Skimmed through them. Consensus seems to be that they are relatively rare, depending on options/condition. This is also an M 635csi, so it really is a different animal, definitely more rare than the regular 6 series. Hope this helps, Mike! Happy that I can (at least have attempted) to be of assistance to you after all you've done for everyone on the forums!

Since it is right hand drive, the registry says only 524 of that configuration produced.

Here's a tip... ANYTIME you want to share a link to an webpage on Wikipedia you MUST first create a customer URL address and the way I do this is by using

TinyURL.com (http://tinyurl.com/create.php)

The coding behind Wikipedia get modified when used straight but when YOU modify them they they stay true and point your reader to the intended destination.

I should write an article on this?

I found an interesting website called how many left. When I entered this car I got as of 2013 there are 87 left! Not sure how it comes up with these numbers but dang, if that is right, there sure aren't lots left!
Here is more interesting data:
How many of each version were produced?
Model 5531 (ECE/LHD without catalyst): 3,283 produced from 02/1984 through 12/1988
Model 5532 (ECE/RHD without catalyst): 524 produced from 09/1984 through 02/1989
Model 5511 (ECE/LHD with catalyst): 117 produced from 11/1986 through 12/1988
Model 5514 (NA/LHD with catalyst): 1,767 produced from 11/1986 through 09/1988
Model 5519 (JAP/LHD with catalyst): 164 produced from 11/1986 through 03/1988

And
Of the 1,767 M6s produced for North America, 135 were built to Canadian specification over three model years

I'd say it's kinda rare!

So what's going on with the M635csi Mike?

The e24 has to be one of my favorite BMWs ever. A friend of mine has one that is nearly 100% original

What is the plan for this one?
