I decided to apply CQ UK to my mustang over Memorial weekend but I needed to polish in order to remove PBL coating. My process as follows:

Wash
IronX
Speedy Surface Prep Pad – Medium Grade
Flex 3401 – Hybrid White Pad – SF4000
2 Eraser Wipedowns
Used 4x4’s Suede MFs for application
Used 16x16 Suede MFs to buff high spots
Applied Reload 24 Hours after UK application

Challenges:
I was having a real hard time with CarPro Reflect on my paint. I tried using a Hybrid Black Pad and a Hydro Crimson Pad. With the Hybrid pad was leaving ticks marks and Crimson pad was better but I couldn’t get it to finish better than SF4000. I’ve used Reflect on a Benz and it was awesome so I believe Ford Black Ebony paint is finicky.

Applying Reload is somewhat tricky, as the saying goes – a little goes a long way. Just one spray of Reload per 3x3 section is all that’s needed. Make sure the panels are cool and not warm otherwise you’ll definitely experience streaking. In addition, too much product will result in streaking – ask me how I know lol…

Tips:
Apply UK one panel at a time. Left to right then up and down. Make sure you buff off high spots before moving on to the next section. Double check & triple check including looking at it from different angles.

Applying Reload, one spray per 3x3 section, use on MF towel to spread product and another MF towel to buff off.

I want to give a shout out to Corey, Matt, Michael, & Justin – thanks for the help & tips guys!

Final Thoughts:
UK is super glossy and looks amazing! Adding Reload does give it more slickness. PBL coating is definitely easier to apply and perhaps more forgiving. Next wash will be with Reset then I'll give it another week or two before I apply Synergy! Comments and feedback welcomed! Thanks for looking everyone :props:

Great job! Reload gives it WAY more slickness. You can apply it 1 hour after UK.

nice work, it looks beautiful. In the next week or so i am gonna do my daughters car. i was planning on using sf4000 too. I never used it, i herd alot of good things about it but have a question. does it have alot of oils and do you think it will remove any marring from the nanoskin that i may get? it is a black benz.

Which skin do you have? If your using a fine grade skin, plenty of lubrication, and light pressure, you shouldn't induce much marring on hard Merc paint. I often use SF4000 on black paint after decon with a fine nanoskin clay mitt and get excellent results. Menz polishes are a little oily but a double wipedown with eraser takes care of the polishing oils with ease. Menz and Sonax, although oily, are my go to for correction and polishing because of their long working time.

I have the fine grade. I use the 6 inch on the DA. when i did my black lexus i got some marring but i used fg400. this time i am planning on using sf4000 because the car really dont have swirls or scratches so i just want to do a light polish. thats why i picked up the sf4000.

You should be good to go with what you have for products. Just remember that your better off making multiple passes than applying more pressure to remove contaminents. 99% of the time, marring occurs from the contaminants that break loose and are dragged around on the paint. Be sure to rinse your clay pad often! :-)

Looks great!! I would like your opinion. Did you find the gloss and the beading and sheeting to be better with this product than with the PBL?

As Just02896 already mentioned, any marring from Nanoskin will be taken care of by SF4000. I know it may seem time consuming, but may I suggest you do your Eraser wipedowns after you polish panel. Menzerna polishes do leave quite a bit of oils. I say this because I noticed some spotting after my Eraser wipedowns. The only thing I can think of is the oils sat on the paint too long. I learned my lesson long ago to not do IPA wipedowns on my paint.

Thanks Dave! Imo, I do find it better. PBL was on my paint for 6 months and it was great. UK took it up another notch. Even after a week of pollen, which has been off the hook, its still glossy!

Thank you! The Roush 20" rims are killer on black but man they weigh a ton...

A cam swap, supercharger, and some new injectors would more than make up the difference! Lol! :-0

Well the plan was to install a Whipple SC but my wedding is on the horizon so its on the back burner. Actually I'm at a crossroads, can't decide whether to go SC or upgrade to 5.0 - it's really nice not having a car payment!
