To be completely honest, I was asked to judge. I didn't want to, but they made me. I asked what I should judge on, and they said "whatever I wanted".... So I judged on who's paint had the least amount of swirls.

So yeah, I won. I studied every MINI in the sunlight, including my own. Had another been better I would have pinned it.

I even gave the Mclaren guy a hard time.... Freaking $300k vehicle there and the paint was trashed.

FAIL.

I'll never understand how someone with such an expensive ride could not know how to keep it looking nice. If I so much as had a car that cost even 30 grand I'd even detail the tire treads. LOL

Some folks just like the driving experience a lot more than the maintenance experience. Some cars are just made to drive it like you stole it...and the rest let someone else worry about it.

Oh this was a sales rep... he had it there from the dealership!!!!!
I told him I hoped he wasn't planning on selling it like that to anyone.

Yeah, I've become "THAT person"

Congrats Monica!

I think its awesome you said that to the owner/driver/rep for the car, if your selling something like that it should be well represented, period! Not taking anything away from your R53 but there's NO WAY a 1st gen new MINI should look better than a brand new hypercar, good for you saying what you said!

Lol this guy's response:

"Well it's used. It has 1,000 miles on it. And McLaren paint is very soft".

Hahahahahahahaha

My car has 40,000 miles on it, was driven in Manhattan for the first 20,000 miles of its life and is 8 years old.
And soft paint? Seriously? That means it should be relatively simple to do a little polishing and get those swirls out.
He said it wasn't' "detailed yet and needed wax".... Um, that's not what it needed.

Otherwise? A freaking sexy car. If they knocked a few hundred thousand off the price for the paint being wrecked I'd buy it

Also, I found a guy taking pics of the MINI and I walked over like it wasn't mine. I asked him what he thought of it. He said it was a great-looking car... Very unique.
I did fess up it was mine.
When I asked what car he was there with he said an Aston Martin... A NEW Aston Martin.
Damn, I felt pretty good he was giving my silly little car so much attention :o
