Hello

I am so confused by lake country pads.

I want 5.5" but no one in australia sells them, one guy sells 5 1/4 lake country pads. I noticed the autogeeks web store sells 5.5 inch CSS lake country pads here: Lake Country 5 1/2 x 7/8 inch Beveled Edge Pads 6 Pack, foam pad kit, build a kit, buffing pads, curved edge pads (http://www.autogeek.net/lake-country-beveled-pad-kit.html)

On the official lake country website, there is no mention of 5.25 or 5.5" pads they make.

Are these 5.5" pads the same as the 6.5 css pads? Or are they a different pad or old stock of a discontinued product?

Thanks for any info regarding this :)

I use the 5.5" Lake Country pads. Not purchased from AG, but a competitor. Same pads.

Here's my guess and this is just a guess....

the 5.5" FLAT pads by Lake Country are BEVELED and so while the back of the pad measures 5.5" in diameter the face, due to the bevel measures less than 5.5" inches.

The outer edge of the face of these pads is tapered so they are actually a little under 5" in diameter

The above high resolution pictures showing the information you're looking for can be found in my article here,

5 inch Backing Plates on Meguiar's, Griot's and Porter Cable DA Polishers (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-tools-accessories/48668-5-inch-backing-plates-meguiar-s-griot-s-porter-cable-da-polishers.html)

I wrote the above article because no matter what Porter Cable style polisher you purchase, eventually you're going to WANT to buy a 5" backing plate.

From left to right...

Factory Griot's 6" BP, Lake Country 5" BP, Meguiar's 5" BP and 5" Black Heavy Duty BP

The article shows you the backing plates. It's probably one of the most shared articles I've ever written because the Porter Cable style polishers are so popular and the most affordable to get into when moving from working by hand to working by machine.

See this article,

Thin is in... (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/28825-thin-new-lake-country-hydro-tech-low-profile-5-1-2-x-7-8-inch-foam-pads.html)

And you can find all my articles here,

And pretty much everything you need to know is also in my how to book and the links to the different version are in the Signature Line of every post I make.

The 5.5" CCS pads are the same type of foam and same design foam just thinner and smaller in diameter.
