Hello

I am about to do my first full detail, color correct, polish, wax.

I have narrowed it down to two choices based on price and availability.

If you had to choose between the below choices, which would you pick and why?

(Meguiars Ultimate compud, ultimate polish, nxt tech wax)

or

(Scholl Concepts S3 Gold Compound, S17 Medium, S30 Nano and W6 sealer)

Thanks for any advice

I have never used Scholl Concepts so can't comment on it.

However, if you do go Meguiar's which is what I feel more comfortable using. Then I would go with Ultimate Past Wax instead of NXT Wax.

I use a lot of Scholls polishes, and really rate them. That said, it's all horses for courses. What are you detailing, and what machine have you got?

As per Niblick above, you haven't provided nearly enough information for anyone to make an informed recommendation:
What is the car in question?
How serious are paint defects, describe?
What are you using for a machine and pads?

From a another post of his(http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/81088-whole-car-4-inch-pads.html) he is still looking for a machine and pads as well as what products too use.

Car info is needed

I know a lot of people that have switched all of their polishes to Scholl's. I haven't used them yet, but all of the Scholl's products that I have used have been fantastic. In fact, many preferred Scholl's over Menzerna, which are my favorite polishes.

I think you'll be happy with both, but I do know a lot of people that love Scholl Concepts.

Both are good. Scholl is a notch above in terms on quality, IMO.

If you want to save money, use Megs for cutting and Scholl for finishing.

Scholls are excellent IMO, but I understand they're quite hard to come by in the states so you might be paying a little over the odds for them tbh. The concept range are diminishing abrasives and there really aren't many paints that would require anything heavier than s17+, but the S3 gold is an excellent heavy compound if you need it. It's quite possible to start compounding with S17+ with a firm/medium pad, and then switch to a finishing pad to refine using the residual polish with just a spritz of pad conditioner.

The CG optical clarity range are also very good and produce virtually no dust, so worth consideration.
It's funny really, I'm a real brand kinda guy for the majority of my products. It's all dodo juice and auto finesse when it comes to waxes and trim, but when it comes to polishes loyalty goes out the window. Certain polishes/compounds just suit certain paints, and that's really all there is to it. Polish wise I've got a range of Scholls, CG, Wolf's, megs, Wolfgang, poorboys, and 3M and I use whatever suits the paint best. If I'm detailing an Aston, then it's gonna be Scholls s30/s40 because the paint is like butter. if I'm working on a VW it'll likely be Megs or 3M, depending on what needs doing. There are no hard and fast rules with polishes, because what works for one doesn't work for all :xyxthumbs:

Thanks guys

The reason I asked is because I am trying to choose between two options.

This kit: which includes DA, scholls concepts, pads etc.

Or buy the same polisher with 4" pads and buy meguiars stuff from my local auto store that has the full range of meguiars stuff.

The car I am detailing is a 1 year old, ex rental australian ford falcon xr6.

Being an ex rental, it has its fair share of RIDS, swirls and is covered in some kind of dealer glaze that turns my cloths black every time i dry it :P

Want to strip that glaze off, color correct, polish, seal and wax it.
