I usually use Meguiar's Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner to clean my wheels. It normally does a good job, but the product is not removing stubborn stains on the my wheels. I then tried non-diluted Simple Green and the stains are still there.

I need some recommendations on what to use to get my wheels looking the best they can and like new.

What would you use?

Looks like mainly baked on brake dust there. I would start with something like Iron X or Sonax Full Effect. If you dont have that available, you could try a good APC. If possible, take the wheels off and clean them good. As for the lugnuts, some #000 steel wool and metal polish to clean them up. After you have them clean, use a good sealant for protection.

Are you using a brush to agitate the wheel cleaner? Good advice given in the previous post. Meguiar's DUB wheel cleaner is similar to sonax and can be found locally if you don't want to wait for shipping.

Like said try sonax full effect or iron x
though you could try acid or have the wheels refinished as for the lug nuts maybe a metal polish or acid would remove that rust but you should make it a weekend project where you take off the wheels and such and give them a deep cleaning then seal them up

Yes, the brush I use is this Meguiar's wheel brush.

I have also used a stiffer bristle tooth brush.

maybe you should invest in a Daytona wheel brush, i use it for inside the rims along with sonax or a apc. like previously stated, you could use iron x or Megs dub. let it work, then use the brush to get in those tight places. one tip if you get the Daytona, dont just whip it out after you brush in the spokes. it will splash all the gunk and product all over you. use a glove and take it out slowly in a angle that is away from you.

The Meguiar's Dub Wheel Cleaner is getting good reviews on the Forum and it's available at Wal-Mart

Another vote for Iron-x and the daytona wheel brush.

I see 4 things on those wheels:

1. Dirt

2. Iron/brake pad material.

3. Road tar

4. A little bit of failing clear coat on the barrels.

I'd use Trix.

P21S and a Daytona Wheel Brush .... safe, effective, and some agitation is needed.

I've had amazing results with Sonax. I've used it on my previous German vehicles (brake dust gets awful) and it's worked great!

Yes, I saw this and it works well. Don't know the price of it but if its cheap and at Wallyworld than it will be on the list to buy. :props:

I'll agree with another poster and recommend a full off the car detail for each wheel. You are going to want to get behind the spokes real good and even with a Daytona, you aren't going to accomplish that without taking off the wheels.

Make sure the car has been sitting for a while so the wheels are cool. Spray Sonax Full Effect or Meguairs DUB (I haven't tried this yet but really like the Sonax) on dry wheel and let it sit for at least 3 minutes. I use a paint safe body brush (that NEVER touches my paint) to clean the barrels and wheel face and then the daytona to clean between the spokes and then brush out the lug nut chambers. If that doesn't remove everything, dry the wheel and repeat. The barrels in your pics are pretty pad, so it make take 2-3 applications to break up the contaminants. Once you have them clean, check for any tar and spot clean those with a tar cleaner. Then clay, polish, and seal. Do this twice a year and your wheels will stay in great shape.

I agree with taking the wheels off as wheel. If your going to do it, might as well clean the entire wheel. This will save you time in the long run as well! Just image if your wheel is caking up brake dust on the outer face, imagine the inner side
