I am brand new to the detailing world and I was wondering what would be a good starter pack for me. I will only be detailing my three cars and thier wheels. I've looked around but so many choices.

Start off with either of the porter cable or the griots packages, they are good starter packs

I kind of like this one--pick the polisher of your choice to go with it:

Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System 5 Inch Starter Kit, paint correction kit, dual action polishing kit (http://www.autogeek.net/da-microfiber-starter-kit-5in.html)

Get some extra pads, and it's best to have a small air compressor (~$100) to blow them out.

I'm not sure if you were looking for "more" of a kit, that includes wash, wax, dressings, etc. There's a lot of different products/tools that you might want depending on what you intend to do; interiors, etc.

It's hard to say what is a good starter pack is because not only are there lots of different products, it depends on your needs and goals. What is your budget? Do you have any tools or products now? Where is your workspace? What are the three vehicles, make, model, year?

Thanks guys. I would say my budget is 400. I have 05 handa accord 4 door, a 06 avalon and 1997 crew cab dually. My goal is bring back the shine of all three and polish the rims. I'm doing all this at my house and I don't have any detailing tools.

Just my 2 cents as a newbie myself.

Start with the basics and add to it as you see fit or your needs change.

Start with 2 wash buckets with grit guards. Then you'll need some soap, wash mitts, MF towels, brushes, clay, and wax.

Once you get started and see where you're at when you get your vehicles clean. Then you can seek advice and other products you'll need to start correcting paint and other detailing you want to achieve.

My recommendation for the paint correction, based solely on my relatively limited experience:

Porter Cable 7424XP Dual Action Polisher (http://www.autogeek.net/porter-cable-7424xp.html) - $130

Meguiars Mirror Glaze W67DA G110 DA Polisher 5 inch Backing Plate (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-w67da-5-inch-backing-plate.html) $20

Meguiars DA Microfiber Cutting Discs, 5" (http://www.autogeek.net/5in-microfiber-cutting-discs.html) $18

Meguiars DA Microfiber Finishing Discs, 5" (http://www.autogeek.net/5in-microfiber-finishing-discs.html) $20

Meguiars D300 Microfiber Correction Compound (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-da-compound.html) - $18

Meguiars M205 Ultra Finishing Polish (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-205-polish-8oz.html) $9

Meguiars D301 Microfiber Finishing Wax (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-da-finishing-wax.html) $20

There are many systems out there - I also use Lake Country Pads and Menzerna polishes quite a bit, but I think the Meguiar's MF system is one of the easiest for beginngers starting out.
