Great job on the flex.
I am looking at getting a rotary myself but I am trying to decide between the L3403 and the PE14. I am sure they are both great machines because my Flex 3401 has been amazing. What makes the PE14 worth the extra money.

Great job on the flex.

Very good artistic job, looks like 'original' (factory made) psychedelic version.

Geekdout, PE14 have a starting speed of 600 RPM, while 3403 starts at 1100 RPM.

That said, I think of PE-14 as a more 'complete' machine than 3403, however I never saw any of them, thus never hold it or used any.

I almost ordered 3403 many times, but I try to save the money to someday get the PE-14.

Hope someone can chime in on this aspect to clear things better.

Kind Regards.

PE14 is more for precision detailing, the motor works better with smaller pads. I've burned through too many compounding for long hours. The makita is heavy but its good for long corrections.

L3403 does start at a higher speed, (speed setting 1), but at setting 1 you can achieve nearly all the correction you need on a wool pad. I have my L3403 as a dedicated compounding machine, and run my FLEX DA, RUPES, and PC for finishing.

I've never fully used the RUPES for its full potential. First i was sent the wrong pad, and after testing it for like 3 months i realized it. So i ordered the right ones and it worked great for a few more months. But i still noticed it wasnt getting the right cutting power around edges. I brought this to the attention of RUPES at SEMA 2013. I knew about the spacer mod for months but i wanted to test the fully before that.

Today i have a few cars lined up for a dedicated RUPES detail with my modded Rupes LHR 15ES

Thanks for the information guys.
I would be using the rotary mostly for compounding like you guys mentioned or anytime I have to work on gelcoat. I have been using my 3401 and GG6 for everything but after taking on some bigger jobs I realize that I need to step up and start using a rotary for the sake of speed.
