Hey everybody, newbie here. Looking to learn lots.

I got into "detailing" with my first car in 2001, a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Broughham in Cobalt Blue. I spent a lot of time taking care of it, and teaching myself regular maintenance (plugs, carb, all the basic stuff).

Fast forward to 2014, and there were quite a few cars in between - '93 Infiniti Q45, '95 Nissan Maxima, '94 Dodge Intrepid, and now a 2002 Infiniti Q45 in Obsidian Black for me, and a 2005 Infiniti QX56 in Emerald Green for the wife.

About three months ago I somehow happened on the DetailedImage.com site, and started reading through the car care guide. I'm very much a do it yourselfer, so the idea of getting a dramatic improvement in the condition of my paint was very appealing. I picked up the PC, Lake Country Orange, White, and Black pads, Meguiar's M105, M205, Menzerna SF4500, and Blackfire Wet Diamond. After about 18 hours, the Q45 looked like a different car.

Before\After with M105:

Can see I still haven't managed to defeat the overspray on the hood and front bumper. Going to have to try the purple foamed wool and some M105.

The QX56. I haven't tackled it yet. Lots of surface area. Probably two weekends from now.

I'm an active duty Officer (Signal Corps) with the United States Army. I'm currently the Executive Officer with an Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Company, stationed at Fort Gordon, GA (Augusta). It's the follow-on to Basic Combat Training (BCT) where Soldiers learn their specific job - computers and networking specifically, for my Soldiers.

I've been considering getting into detailing on the side, but I'm limited to Friday evening through Sunday for when I could work on cars. Not sure how that would play out.

Look forward to learning from you all.
