Car is a black '04 mustang cobra. From what ive read the clearcoats on these things are about medium in hardness. Pics arent great but maybe you can get an idea of what im dealin with...

Im planning on using a UDM, CCS orange pad with XMT 3. Then follow that up with a CCS black pad with XMT 360. Then top it off with some souveran paste.

Is this too aggressive of a combination for these swirls? Should I change up what pads im planning on using? Comments?

Before a wash...

Those swirls are pretty bad. I suggest you use an Orange pad with XMT 3, then a white pad with XMT 360, then a gray for your wax.

Start with XMT 2 and CCS orange pad. If that doesnt work then move to yellow pad. If that doesnt work THEN go to XMT 3 and CCS orange. Youll definitely need to follow up with XMT 1.

Do what 6LS2 said, of which actually may still not be enough. I have a feeling that youre going to get tired of XMT3 not cutting enough and will probably move up to either a yellow pad and/or xmt4.

Try the least aggressive combo first though, no sense in taking more than necessary off.

Good luck!

Then he should start with XMT 2.

Thanks for the replys guys!

Im gonna use the Orange pad+#3 first i guess, dont have #2. Then White pad+#1. Then Red pad+ Megs #7 glaze. Then Souveran by hand.

What would it look like/what would happen if the #3+orange is to strong of a combination? How would I be able to tell?

well, in all honesty, xmt2 and an orange will take way too long when he can just get what he needs out of something more abbrasive.

if it were me, i would start with xmt3 and an orange and/or yellow. then begin backing down to take out the marring. even with 2 steps, it will be significantly less time and take off exactly what is needed for correction.

youll know because when the lights hit it, you will see very fine hairline marks in all directions, not swirls.

either way, your current plan of action will be perfect, one of which I would mimic exactly for myself. youre going to be very happy with the results.

What would be the edge and pb equivelant of ccs orange and #3? I have a similar project and only have ssr1, ssr2, edge green, blue and white. Edge green and ssr2, then edge blue and ssr1, finish with edge white pad and wg sealant? Any need to use the wg pre-wax before seal or as a replacement for ssr1? Different products you would recommend?
