Well I finally got started!

Wanted to practice and learn before stepping up to
my 2002 Dodge, so I washed my old beater Mazda
pickup and pulled it into the garage.

I only did half the hood for now, but I was amazed
how much life it brought back into that old 22 year
old neglected paint.

I Nanoskinned with a 6" medium pad, then used the
Wolfgang twins followed by the Wolfgang sealant.
I was blown away at the difference!

I used the Griot's 6" DA with 6.5" CCS pads. Orange
to start, then white and finished with a blue for the
sealant.

Make no mistake, the paint is really bad with tons
of nicks, chips, scratches and bad oxidation from
being a work truck it's whole life, but even with that,
I'm very happy with the results and gaining confidence
to move on to my Dodge.

Here's a quick video I put together and uploaded to YT:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-0t1gm1Wrg]92 Mazda - Results after Nanoskin and Polishing with Griots DA Polisher - YouTube[/video]

Sorry for the poor quality of the video, I'm using a little
HD Flip.

More videos to come!

Thanks to all who contribute and help us 'noobs' figure
out what we're doing :props:

Nice going Greg...

Looks like your really enjoying your work

I'm 57 and started last year on my 2009 Rav4 and got started with Griots package too.

I haven't been to a car wash in a year...

Figure $25 a pop maybe 15 times a year saved....

But hopefully can stop buying detailing stuff..

its addictive !!!

Ok, finished off the hood and pulled the truck outside in
the sun. I could see some cobwebs still so I probably needed
to use a more aggressive first step or pad maybe since the
paint was in such bad shape.

Also, and this may be from all the pollen in the air right now,
the baggy test felt all bumpy again on the section I had
finished yesterday. So I'm thinking even in the garage, there's
still lots of junk in the air that settles on the paint.

I'll try to get a video outside next time so I can show you
guys what it looks like in the sun.

Still a HUGE improvement over where it was. :wow:

Greg, the video was fine and got your point across very well. I'm always amazed at how much a finish can be brought back and this is a great example! :props:

Thanks for all the great replies!

Yes Mark, I am addicted for sure. All I want to do
is surf the forums and check out more cool stuff I
can buy. Just when you think you have all you need,
you spy something else you just gotta have!

Can't wait to get started on the Dodge. That is
really why I got into this.

My brother has a 2009 Challenger and he's the
one that got me fired up about the detailing. He
lost 20 lbs. after he got his Challenger because
he works on it all the time. He did about 75 shows
last year, so he's way beyond addicted, I'd say
more like obsessed!

So much to learn and so little time! :coolgleam:
