Hey guys I'm new to the forum and detailing in general and I have a question.
I'm about to polish my car and these are the products I currently have.. I'm Looking for a basic breakdown on which product I should use that I currently have from a friend

Porter cable 7424
Menzerna pg1000
Menzerna po91e
Menzerna po 87mc
Menzerna po 85rd
5.5 inch lake country ccs pads - orange, white, black & blue
4 inch lake country ccs pads - yellow, orange, white, black

I'm doing this work on a silver Acura rsx and the paint is in really good condition.. The only thing I see are some swirl marks when up close ..probable from to many car washes

Thanks!

Hi welcome to AGO.

Your basic breakdown would be to perform a test spot with a white pad and PO87mc to see where that gets you. Then you can change it up from there depending on what's needed.

Perfect thanks I'll try it out...I was just thinking that po85rd and po 87mc seem too similar so it didn't make sense to use both

I think many on the Forum are now using the NEW Menzerna Product Codes, so maybe this will help generate more replies:

PG 1000 = PG 1000

PO 91E = IP 2000

PO 87MC = I don't see a new number on this one (removes 2500 grit sanding marks)

PO 85RD = SF4500

Autogeek Menzerna Compounds Comparison Chart (http://www.auto-geek.net/charts/wax-cut-chart-menzerna.htm)

In my experience SF 4500 is only good for a final jeweling on soft paint. I used it after Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover on a black Porsche to remove the light haze left by the WGTSR.

I would to a test spot with the PO 87MC on a white pad. Make sure the test spot includes at least one of the deepest defects you are trying to correct.

Good Luck

ok i see...ill try testing a spot.

Also, would using this combination make sense:

IP2000 - Orange or white Pad followed by SF4500 - black pad?

Then to seal I have the PINNACLE LIQUID SOUVERAN CAR WAX - Blue Finessing Pad.

Im just trying to figure out where this PO 87mc fits in my line up.

Thanks

Your combo looks good. However I would use IP2000 on a white pad and follow with SF4500 on black. I don't think SF4500 on black could pull up any hazing from IP2000 on orange. But do a test spot to confirm if you decide on that route.

Pinnacle Liquid Souveran sounds good on blue.

I would to a test spot with the PO 87MC on a white pad. Make sure the test spot includes at least one of the deepest defects you are trying to correct.

If that does not provide enough cut, go to PO 87MC on an Orange Pad.

Some use a hybrid method where you would use the same polish and just change the pad:

Orange pad with PO 87MC followed by White Pad with PO 87MC.

BTW, on a Silver car, it will be very difficult to tell the difference if you do a final step with SF 4500. I can barely tell on my black Yukon when I follow Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover with Wolfgang Finishing Glaze (actually a polish, based off of SF 4000).

sorry guys one more quick question. My friend who gave me these said he purchased them 7 years ago but he hardly used them. They have always been kept at room temperature.

Are they still okay to use and just as effective as being new?

I shaked all the bottles and it still seems good...no uniformity or anything.

Thanks
