Leather color transfer

Hey guys I cleaned up the interior of my new to me 05 mustang. When I cleaned my seats I used the megs cleaner conditioner spray and had a pretty good amount of color transfer from my crimson red leather seats. I only noticed this on the front of my front seats. My rears and the backs of my front seats had no transfer. The seats also appear to be dry looking and not really conditioned. Thanks for looking

Leather is supposed to be non greasy or shiny looking after being cleaned.

If its color transfer it could be cause the product is too strong for that material you may have to take a softer approach you could also try steam cleaning your leather seats lastly if the seats seem dry then condition the seats two or three times leaving the conditioner to soak for ten minutes before buffing off

It gets dirty real quick. I work in a tire shop so I get pretty dirty and the car is my daily. I hate to have to cover up my cool looking upholstery but might have to just to save it. I have used this same product for years on my black on black leather 01 mustang with no problems and always got tons of dirt and grime from those seats with kind of a semi gloss finish to it. My main concern is the color transfer not the sheen of the leather as I do not want to end up with pink seats.

Some color seats bleed color more than other though one of the main causes is the type of product you are useing therefore I would try some leatherique or leather masters

Dang, you beat me to it, I would have thought most newer seats were coated?

I suspect the seat area may have been re-dyed and not re-cleared by a previous owner or dealer. You should not be getting color transfer from coated leather in good condition. Since this appears to be the case, expect the seat to show the underlying cause soon.

I'd see a restoration specialist and have the hyde re-cleared or since this is a daily driver and subject to a bit of grime, maybe look to some custom fitted seat covers.
