What is jewling?

So lately ive been seeing the word jewling thrown around left and right. Im curious as to what this term means. Im familiar will all other terms and definitions except for this one. Im assuming its adding an extra step in a polishing process but thats just my assumption.

It's a step used to bring out a deep rich shine. To truly jewel requires a rotary machine

In the broad sense it's using an extremely light cut pad and a high gloss polish like Menzerna SF4500 to bring out the most shine possible. By removing remnants of haze and minor scratches the reflection is deeper and glossier.

But rotaries do bring a car to a higher degree of shine, whether it's truly noticeable over a dual action polisher, is up to the beholder.

I don't think you can get the best finish jeweling with just a DA or just a rotary. Paints are strange and react different depending on what, when, where, and how the final coat was applied. A DA might work fine to jewel one paint but leave a slight haze with another. The same could be said for a rotary leaving a halogram on one paint and then work better on another. It's nice to have options.

I remember asking Mike if you could jewel on a DA and he said yes (if I remember correctly) So when correcting my Dodge I jeweled it with M205 didn't have Menzerna 4500 yet, I think it came out pretty good all in all.
