Alright guys/gals I have been going back and forth as to weather or not to coat my GTO. I just did a full wet sand and buff on it last week and finished it off with a coat of Victoria Red Wax and a coat of Megs ultimate paste wax. See thread below

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/77813-started-my-sanding-buffing-project.html

I really like the idea of a coating that offers mar resistance along with great water sheeting ability as this is my daily driver. I really like the CQuartz Finest but seeing as I would need a licensed installer to do it and after receiving expensive quotes I am passing on that. I was looking at CQuartz UK, Black Label, DP to name a few. I haven't been impressed with the Opti 2.0 from what I have heard from good friends. I also like what the new Pinnacle Synergy has to offer. Seems like a great product.

Now here is my other issue. I like to wax my car and polish it. I know with a coating that it really won't need polishing anymore but what about topping with a wax after doing my weekly wash? Or am I limited to just washing and a quick detailer?

I am getting overloaded with all the new coatings and different ways to apply them. Any help with this would great seeing since the car has been corrected already doing a coating now would be fairly easy.

Duragloss now has a paint coating too and when you factor in what's included in the kit and the shipping directly from them that's CHEAP, well, you've gotta consider them!

I have tried OC 2.0 , CQ , Gtech c1, Gtech Exov2 , Gtech Exo , 22PLE Sign.

I can vouch for the Gtech and 22PLE.
However 1 coating i have yet to try is the CQUK. From the sound of it, it is VERY similar to the 22PLE at half the cost.

Personally I'd say the Gtech line is harder to apply and remove. However they are GREAT if you did it correctly.

I have used BL DSC (Surface coating), CQ Org, CQUK, OC.

The BLDSC is nice, but it is way to early to tell on durability.

CQ org lasted me 2+ years and I loved the look and beading / sheeting. I also did a long term review on it.

I currently have CQUK on the same car and like it just as much as CQ org. It was easier to apply and work with. The beading / sheeting are good and I figure it will last at least a 1.5yr+.

I have OC Pro on my truck that sits outside 24/7. I like it a lot mostly for the durable protection. IMO OC is more for the durability and not wanting to re-do it every 2 years.

The reality is you "can" wax over any coating you wish. But you then are covering up the properties of the coating and the reason t you applied it. No coating is a scratch / marring eliminating thing. You will get them over time, it just is what it is. They do help to greatly reduce any problems.

This is my opinion but if you want to wax "weekly" you are better off sticking with a sealant and wax combo to keep things fresh and give you the option of changing.
