I've just got into this detailing hobby and will be buying a DAP soon. I've just purchased and started to read "The Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine".

My mind is being overloaded with knowledge right now. There is a lot of info to be absorbed...

My question is, which product is good or specifically designed for Silver? I've seen Meg's for White or Black, should the White work well on Silver?

Silver is a relatively easy color to maintain so it's up to you. I don't know how bad your defects are but I'm sure the meg polishes are up to it or you could go Menzerna. I would just get a compound and a finishing polish. Then you top it with your liking for silver I know midnight sun should add some shine or collinite 845 looks good on light colors.

Meguiar's White and Black Waxes are:
All-In-Ones (AIOs)---Cleaner/Waxes.

Good for any/all "colors"...Including Silver.

I've used Collinite 845 (2 coats) on my silver metallic 2014 corolla s and it looks incredible.

Are you looking for an all in one? Or separate products (compound, polish and wax/sealant). White wax is a good as in one and looks good on any color. From megs I like M21 on silver.

Pinnacle Sovereign (thank god for spell check cause I can never spell it) is GREAT on lighter metallic colors...as far as a wax goes.

Here lately it's been SON1C Wax's: CARNAUBAVORE WAX
for the (admittedly subjective): "best wax/wax system" for our (silver-ish) Pewter Metallic vehicle.

You now may be the judge.

Silver is a great color that hides swirls and light scratches.
i Just did my silver 4 runner 10 years old. my suggestion is nano skin and any carnauba wax will be fine. If you see light scratches after nano skin use a light polish.

I think the a follow on question would be, what type of look are you after?

The waxes listed here will probably provide a glossy warm glow to silver, whereas a sealant will give it more of a mirror like shine.

When I owned a silver car for a number of years, I used both carnauba waxes and sealants. In my eyes there was a noticable difference, but both looked good in their own way.

Thanks everyone. Actually have two silver vehicles. One 2013 F150 and a 2007 Focus that is my work commute car. It's pretty neglected paint wise. I'm going to use it to practice on. The truck is in great condition with prolly very few swirls but I want to get it to pop. I'd rather have the mirror look than the warm look.

I was just wondering if there was something that was particularly good on Silver.

I'd rather have the mirror look than the warm look.
