So what happens when you put BlackFire BlackICE over Opti-Coat 2.0? Well, as it turns out - Nothing. I am not sure what I was expecting. Maybe a touch more depth? Maybe an ever so slight darkening?

So I received the car new in December. The dealer actually did an excellent job primping the car for delivery - I was worried of course but I did not want to impede in any way their delivery inspection by telling them not to touch it.

In December I "jeweled" the car using yellow pads and Menzerna 4500 finishing with an application of Opti-Coat 2.0. Very impressed with that stuff btw.

So this week I decided to try out BlackICE on this light metallic paint just for the hell of it. Besides the fact I was pretty much just rubbing shoe polish over my car, it went on easy and buffed off easy - A little does go a long way. I experimented with thicker application and it just made it harder to remove - No change in the end result.

So here are the pictures - BlackICE on the right, Opti-Coat only on the left.

Final thoughts. If you have Opti-Coated your car, I would recommend sticking with a spray-on wax like Optimum Car Wax if you desire that slick feeling. Maybe even just leave it at a quick detailer after a wash. I will find out if there is any effect on Opti-Coated graphite metallic soon enough and report my findings! I somehow doubt there will be.

What color is the car? I am a Porsche owner and have never seen that color.

It is called Lime-Gold and became available 2013/2014. It is listed as a "Special Color."

It is different certainly. Another picture...

I actually wasn't either until this particular redesign came out.

Thanks everyone. Too bad the BlackICE didn't actually work out - Maybe on my wifes car!

That is a beautiful looking Porsche! Excuse the ignorance, but which model is that?

Hey thanks. It is a Cayman S. They had a fairly significant body style change this year so for now it's not really easy to tell what it is at first glance.

Beautiful car! I think you are expecting a little too much from that product though. If the car was properly corrected and coated, you wont get much more out of the "looks" category. The only thing you can gain really is more slickness, which OptiCoat lacks.

Well really, I wasn't expecting much - More hopeful for a minor improvement than anything. But it certainly taught me not to bother and taught me Opti-coat has a comparable finish to at least one expensive wax.
