I had a customer call me to do a complete interior cleaning. They told me that battery acid had spilled in the back and I wasn't sure if I would be able to clean it up. I didn't want to use my extractor cause of the acid. So I used steam, Folex and once it was clean I used the extractor. I had not cleaned the trunk jam yet when I took the picture.

A good way to clean battery acid is to mix baking soda with water to make a spray solution. Spray the mixture to neutralize the acid. Just remember to clean the sprayer. Once you agitate the solution vacuum and spray plain water and use a terry cloth to blot the area. Once that is done use folex and wet down. Vacuum with wet dry vac. This way if battery acid was left the baking soda would neutralize it. If you look at the area in a few weeks you may have white spots . The white sports are remnants of the acid.

They did put down baking soda. They didn't bring it to me till about a month later.

This is good information for me. I wouldn't think of using baking soda for this application. Thanks for sharing! :xyxthumbs:

I was going to say they had to have done something to neutralize the acid or there would be large holes in the carpet and you would not have had anything to clean...

I had a battery tip over in the trunk and leak. I dumped a box of baking soda all over and still had holes in the carpet when I cleaned it all up.

Great work! :xyxthumbs:
