Today I had the pleasure of working on a 2005 Corvette for a new customer of mine.

Job consisted of fixing the cloudy, frosted looking headlights, polishing the wheels and a rinse-less wash.
Also did a test spot on the trunk , it had swirls and light scratches, after a two step correction and a coat of paint sealant I managed to get it 99% defect free.

Below are random pictures of my work.
Before and after pictures.

As you can see there were swirls in the paint on the trunk.

On to the headlights.....

You can see how cloudy and frosted the light was.

After a lot of wet sanding and polishing it made a big improvement.

Soon I'll do the entire car to get it all taking care of then add protection.

Thanks all

One thing I learned working on a Corvette , 2005
The trunk, well the entire car has light scratches, swirls but only corrected the trunk per test spot for future correction.
Know it's on the hard side but here's what I learned......

I washed the trunk using the DP Rinse-Less Wash, the car was just washed but wanted to make sure no dust was present before I clayed it.
After claying I could really see the defects, LOUD like so to speak.

Pulled out my PC, LC Orange Flat Pad along with the Wolfgang Uber Compound which was my first compound to use for the test area.

I made four passes, slow arm speed but not heavy pressure, buffed it off and said "Wow".
Couldn't believe the results, I mean again loaded with swirls, looked like someone sat on the trunk on one area.
The customer flipped out and said man the job is yours:)
Step two I used the Meguiar's 205 then sealed the trunk with the Wolfgang Glossy Paint Sealant.

Goes to show you it's not always about what machine we choose to use, it's more about the pad selection and using a good compound like Wolfgang.

Question

He wants me to clean the rag top and protect it.
I never, ever worked on a rag top so I couldn't answer him right on the spot.
What is a good cleaner and is there some product that should be used afterwards to protect it?

Raggtop.. best available.. be sure to get the correct protection either vinyl or cloth

Raggtop sells as a kit too

I imagined fabric interior/exterior had to be cleaned and protected just like we do with paint, wheels, tires even headlignhts. It appears so http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3ikT9InF9U

I just ordered some CarPro Interior coating to try out in my car. I also ordered some HD stuff to have in stock for cutomer cars. I'm sure AG sells it all you'll need however.
