View Full Version : How do I remove surface contaminants after

the car has already been detailed with wax cleaner and sealant (I used Jeff Werkstatt's Prime Strong and 2 layers of Acrylic Jett Trigger)?

I notice a few small areas that seemed to be "raised" above the paint surface, not sure if its sap or something, but want to try to remove it.

Should I hit that spot with some clay, or tar/bug remover?

Clay bar is usually for contaminants pitting into the paint, rather than sitting on the surface. But then again, it all depends on what exactly it is. A clay bar session couldnt hurt, but maybe consider a cleansing lotion to really CLEAN the paint, but it will remove the wax and sealant. If its a big deal, I would go ahead and strip everything off, get it to where you want, and start from scratch.

Yup. Clay is definitely the next step. That should be the next step after washing, actually. It is surprising what clay can remove that polishes and compounds can't. Here is a helpful little clip that I took this weekend if you needed any extra direction.
