Hi all

Got a fellow VW club member who happened to get a fair amount of red oxide primer spilled down the one side of his car, which has subsequently dried.

Any one got any advice on how to safely remove this.

Unless they changed the formula, red oxide primer is a lacquer based product and will need to be removed with lacquer thinner on a cloth. If the paint is factory then you'll be safe using this method.

Before saturating the area I'd first try a plastic razor blade and a hair dryer. Try heating up the area and see if you can get the blade under the primer and peal it off.

I agree with Bobby. Lacquer thinner will remove it, but be sure to test a small area first, if its good, then continue. It will more than likely need to be polished up afterwards.
