Last week I used PS21 Paint Cleaner and put on a coat of Collinite 915. Finish was great, no issues.

Today I washed the car and followed up with a QD (Chemical Guys Synthetic Acrylic Detailer)... now I have holograms all over that weren't there before.

What is this? Frustrating... No matter how much I try to buff, they are still there...

Maybe you had dirt in your wash media or perhaps your microfiber towel isn't soft enough for your vehicle's paint work.

What did you use to was the car and what towel did you use with the quick detailer. How did you dry the car?

2 bucket with DP Shampoo. Air dried the car with a blower and used a plush MF towel(s) when going around the car with the CG QDetailer.

When I look at it from different angles, it looks slighlty "oily" creating these holograms. Buffing seems to help take them out but they aren't coming out completely...

Perhaps I used too much QD?

Is it streaks from the QD or are they actually in the clear coat?

sounds like QD streaks to me! I get that with V7 some times

Go in straight lines, does it change direction?

Sounds like the acrylic detailer is reacting with the 915. Do an IPA wipedown and see if that helps.

These are what I call "wax holograms" and you get them sometimes if a spray wax doesn't like your LSP. OCW is famous for this. You have to re wash the car and they will likely come off. Wipe downs with this or that usually don't work.

Correct answers below. You can also fix the problem by putting on another coat of 915.

OCW? As in Over the Counter Wax? 915 isnt over the counter...?

Also, how would another coat of 915 help?

OCW = Optimum Car Wax.

Gotcha.

Do paint sealants suffer from holograms too?

Thinking about going to an Acrylic paint sealant... my thoughts are no oils in them, thus making future washes and QD's be free from this issue.

Are all of the acrylic paint Sealants' "Carrier systems"...
free of oils?
