I was looking for a good wheel cleaner that does not have a horrible acid smell, can be diluted and works well.

Meguiars D143 is it! Economical at 20 dollars, it can be diluted at ratios of 2:1,3:1 and even 4:1. It works so well that you dont even need to use alot of it to clean rims. It easily loosens break dust and helps with rim cleaning. I even did not smell any of the cleaner while using it. I would highly recommend it to detailer's who want clean rims with minimal work. It strips old dressings and dirt off of tires with ease!

pros
price
efficiency
no acid smell and no acid
dilute-able

cons
considered to be a health hazard -its not cherry soda, dont drink it
container is heavy with full liquid and will require some strength to properly dilute the liquid

Thanks for the review!

What is the ph of this wheel cleaner...
and can it be used on bare aluminum, anodized, or powdercoated wheels?

And I couldn't help but notice that you say rims instead of wheels.

A non acid based wheel cleaner that can't be used on uncoated aluminum. That's kind of strange.

Nice review.

I just checked the container, its not for use on uncoated polished aluminum or anodized aluminum

The d143 contains tetrasodium edta which is one component that harms bare and anodized aluminum. It also produces hydrogen gas when it contacts aluminum

Glad to hear you like it. I use it all the time. I find it cleans the tires a little better than mother's all wheel and tire cleaner.

Everytime I think I found a good cleaner for my polished aluminum wheels someone tells me about the "fine print" I guess soap and water is about all that's good for polished aluminum wheels.
