How to clean this damn ROAD SALT!!!

We have been getting hammered here and this road salt is unlike anything that Ive seen recently. Its SO thick its crazy looking. Whats the best method of attack? Foam it? pressure washer? If I pressure wash will it remove the collinite 476s?

If I foam can I use my duragloss 902? Or do I need something special?

Foam cannon and dg901 is fine. Foam, dwell, PW rinse, foam, dwell, PW rinse. After that its up to you whether you want to do a traditional wash to clean completely. I usually just do the foam soak and rinse thing during the winter unless we get an unusually warm day.

I also recommend you try CG Wash clear in your foam gun or cannon. Stuff works great for a touchless foam wash!

Spraying it off good will remove most of it, either with a hose with good pressure or a pressure washer.

Water dissolves salt...

Then as was said you can do a regular wash.

Anything is better than leaving it on the car without doing anything. LOL if that makes sense. I left mag. choloride & salt on my truck for 3-4 weeks and it ate right through the coating on my frame. I had to spray rust reformer on it and lay a couple layers of undercoating on it.

Don't make the mistake I made. Get it off ASAP

Here in NC we are supposed to get snow tomorrow night, and they already put salt down early today....

Man was I pissed, here it was like 70 degrees today and sunny and we had salt on the road... Already......

Had to spray down the Jeep when I got home to get it all off then went over it with M135, then put it back in the garage.

For me a good pressure was is a great idea. I know this isn't my post but may I ask you guys a question? What do you do with this foam cannon? Do you rinse the car then foam and hand wash with it? Is it effective? Costly? Do you foam and rinse after letting it sit?

Living in Michigan I have dealt with road salt my whole life. Your best bet is to go to a DIY Pressure Wash facility and blast off all the salt with the warm water. Then head home and do a Waterless Wash in your garage with the heater on. At that point the car is clean enough to do most anything to it.

Foam cannon attaches to and works off a power washer. No it's not that expensive. Yes it IS worth having one! A foam pre-soak definitely helps to release abrasive grime from paint and allows you to rinse the bulk of it off. Then a proper wash can be done without so much worry of putting swirls in your paint.

My water softener system sends soft filtered water to my outdoor spigots which eliminates the hard water that causes water spots. However, I do dry with forced air during Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Thanks for the thread I'll look into it. I always spray my vehicles down with chemical after a good rinse to wash. I use pretty harsh chemicals at times. Especially when the exterior condition is bad. This could be quicker if it allows you to dial up the concentration.

They use salt and sand where I drive every day. I literally spray my car down with the hose for 20 minutes trying to get as much off as I can before hitting it with the 2BM. Regardless if it's sodium chloride or magnesium chloride, it will dissolve easily in water.

As far as hurting the 476, my car still beads and I am essentially sandblasting it daily. Don't think your pressure washer will have any affect on it. If you think it does, apply another coat.
