M105 or M101?

I read that M105 was originally designed to be used with wool pads while M101 is designed for use with foam pads. I have used M105 and don't like it a lot compared to Optimum, Menzerna and Scholl compounds.

Should I try M101 as I work with a rotary and foam pads?

M100 was designed with a rotary in mind and M101 was designed for a DA. You can use them cross platform but your results might suffer a bit.

M105 is old tech, look how long it came out. M101 is the latest cutting compound Megs has to offer, however It was originally & still is designed to be used with a Rotary. It wasnt until many pro detailers found out it works great with a DA as well.

M100 has become one of my favorites replacing M105 on my shelf. If more cut is needed I drag out the M101 and a mf pad.

Interesting!! I've never used M101 but have used plenty of M100 and it works really well with a DA as well. I know ScottWax from the Autopia forums uses it almost exclusively on his Rupes.

Remember detailers are know for thinking outside the box. Especially when it's time to decide on foam vs. mf or wool . There are so many combinations to combat all the various paints conditions and the problems they present.:xyxthumbs:

I agree, the same goes for Mothers polishes/compounds. Their designed for the Rotary, but recent testing of my own and others before me have generated great results with the DA.

Both can be a PITA to wipe off. No thanks. Try shine supply classic cut compound. It's diminishing, but cuts like a beast and finishes good. Best of all, it's easy to wipe off!

I haven't used 105 since I bought 101. It has great cut and finishes out very nice (but I still use 205 as a second step). I think it comes off much easier than 105.

Anyone who had problems removing polish and compound residue should buy a Pakshak Silver Surfer Edgeless Microfiber Towel. It's specifically made for removing wax, sealant, polish, and compound residues.

I did a light polish with Sonax Perfect Finish 4/6 and a coating of Pinnacle Souveran Liquid last week on my personal ride. Using the Pakshak Silver Surfer Edgeless Microfiber Towel made the chore of buffing off polish and wax feel as easy as wiping baby powder off a baby's bottom.
