I was deciding on the flex or rupes 21. I just read that you shouldn't use a 5"bp on the rupes 21. I think it was Hernandez who spoke to the rupes rep and he said it was ok to use sometimes but not to turn the machine into a 5 inch machine.

Thanks for the reply!!! Strange about the pads as I've noted quite a few pros on another forum that are using non Rupes pads with great success and durability.

I purchased the 15 and the 75 last month, and finally got to use them last week. It is leaps and bounds above the HF polisher I was using, as it should be for the price you pay. But the correction is quick and effortless compared to my old DA. I would have to say that these to machines will save me a nice amount of time per car on paint correction jobs. If you don't plan on using any pads larger than 5.5", it really isn't worth spending the extra money on the 21. This is why I decided to just stick with the 15 over the 21.

There is a video on the CG Youtube of Greg using a CG black MF pad on the Rupes 21 with 5" bp. It worked awesome and gave great results.

Also I noticed even going over curves etc the Rupes didn't stall once.

Saw the same video and was wondering the same thing I didn't see any stalling?

Quick poll. Duetto or 15

2010 Kia Forte sedan
2013 Kia Sorento SUV

Both Ebony black. Will buy all 4 pads and 4 polishes to tackle my cars and a few on the side jobs.

Just tell me why you would take the duetto over the 15 or vise versa. Having such a hard time deciding.

There's not gonna be a very noticeable difference of correction power between the Duetto and LHR15. I'd take the Duetto, hands down! If you want a really noticeable difference as far as correction power, go with the LHR21.

I think I might take your advice and pick up the duetto. To tell you the truth, once the cars are maintained, I cannot see myself doing a LOT of correction work, so the duetto should be fine.

Is there a huge time difference in cutting power between the 21 and the duetto or am I looking at marginal increases going to the 21?

Definitely a noticeable time difference/cutting power between the Duetto and LHR21. However, the Duetto is still more than capable of heavy correction.

If you go with the Duetto, pick up a few B&S 5.5" microfiber cutting pads. They work GREAT with the Duetto.

I'd be worried about the 21 on that Sorrento, lots of pad stopping curves for the 21. Also, the two Kia's I have done, super soft paint. I tried MF pads on the first one I did, in black, marred and hazed like no ones business.

What annoys me is every video demonstration of polishers is done on a hood or flat surface. You really can't get an idea about how they'll do on curves.

Proper use of the 21 and I've not ever had it stop spinning

Agreed. With the washer mod, the 21 keeps the pad spinning very well. Blows away the 15. The only problem with the 21 is when using a 6.5"+ pad, it can be too big for certain areas. It's sufficient for most, though. I LOVE my 21!!
