Im buffing a 1999 sl500

The paint is in great shape. It only has 38k miles so it's more of a garage queen then a show car or daily driver

I have a question

What products would you recommend for this

I'm thinking menzerna 3000 followed by menzerna 4000

Orange ccs pad then a white ccs pad

With the products you have mentioned. I would start with the white pad with 4000. If that gets me the results I want, then that is it. Otherwise, up the aggressiveness. Remember, least aggressive approach first.

What are the questions about holograms? Does the car have holograms? Swirls? Ceramiclear paint?

What polisher do you intend on using?

Looks like M.B. started using Ceramiclear as an OEM finish in 2003 which is super hard. There's probably still some pretty hard "high solids" paint on that car even if it's not Ceramiclear. Let us know how it went if you'd be so kind..?

^ +1 on your questions about holograms and yes what polisher do you intend to use?

as Far as Menzerna products, they have so many numbers they tend to get confusing for me personally, but I intend to start learning more about them. I have Mezerna FG400 and that works great, but that would be a huge jump on going from SF4000 to FG400.

If I remember reading correctly, others said if they did use FG400 they would follow it with SF4000 and SF4500 would be a good choice for a final polish or jeweling.

Posting your steps would be nice to read and for others to suggest different or add on procedures.

I'll start with making sure the top is covered when polishing your paint to avoid staining it that and trim etc...

Good Luck!

I started with super intensive polish 2000 on an orange pad. Because the 4000 didn't do anything
