Time to catch up on some write ups! Been very busy lately but wanted to post this one. Was a fun car to detail. This was our 3rd Tesla I believe (3rd or 4th). This time we were working with white - and AGAIN, they drove quite a long ways for us to work on their new baby.

The owners were very cool and had decided to just go on ahead and buy a car they wanted NOW rather than save up and get one later - I say they chose wisely.

We talked with the owner and settled on going with a full CQuartz Package - Finest on paint and wheels, Dlux on hard plastic and FlyBy30 on glass.

Now while this was not our typical HUGE turn around, there was definitely some areas that needed extra attention - and sometimes that can be more difficult to spot than just going at the whole car with a full correction approach. The majority of the vehicle just needed a light polish to clean and gloss it up - but there were some defects that tried to hide:

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100089_zps6bd0656b.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100089_zps6bd0656b.jpg.html)

Ah yes there they were…on the trunk of course.

There were also some marks on the front quarter and rear "hip" area that required some extra attention:

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100092_zps58f025ab.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100092_zps58f025ab.jpg.html)

We've come to know these little squiggles quite well, Dual action sanding marks:

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100094_zpsef4f6536.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100094_zpsef4f6536.jpg.html)

Here was another cluster:

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100095_zps0be07119.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100095_zps0be07119.jpg.html)

But before we got to all that, we had to do some prepping. Tires, wheels, wells, barrels etc all had to be done. Then a prep wash, decontamination/clay and THEN - we could get to the polishing.

A little grimy down low:

Time for a good clean:

Wash was then done along with the decontamination - and then into the garage she went for some further inspection, which was how we came across those little guys (sanding marks/swirls) shown a few photos ago:

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100093_zps065b8e3d.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100093_zps065b8e3d.jpg.html)

Most of the car was brought into great shape with just a 1-step polish, but those deeper guys required us to first compound them to remove them…and then follow up with a finishing polish. It surely did the trick:

Getting ready to do a little more polishing:

Andddd the gloss was moving on in:

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100104_zps9ddc65f4.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100104_zps9ddc65f4.jpg.html)

After the polishing was complete (including polishing the glass), it was time to prep the paint and wheels. Paint was wiped down with Eraser - as was the glass…while Dani prepped the wheels - first removing any light bit of dirt left in the barrels and then spraying down with Eraser as well to prep for Finest.

I then started working on applying the two coats of CQuartz Finest

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100106_zpsa9838b47.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100106_zpsa9838b47.jpg.html)

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100107_zpse9a7724c.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100107_zpse9a7724c.jpg.html)

The owners had actually come back and snuck this picture of us both working. I believe i was wiping away the first coat of Finest while Dani was prepping and applying Dlux to the hard plastic.

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/photo_5_zps837ae94b.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/photo_5_zps837ae94b.jpg.html)

Speaking of which - what an awesome product….even on new trim it makes such a huge improvement;

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100103_zpsa32db005.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100103_zpsa32db005.jpg.html)

There was nothing wrong with the original trim, in great shape…..but Dlux is just such a great upgrade:

http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100102_zpseaacea91.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100102_zpseaacea91.jpg.html)http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff374/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100102_zpseaacea91.jpg (http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/Wills_WindowsAndWheels/media/Lyle%20Tesla%20Model%20S/P1100102_zpseaacea91.jpg.html)

Now once we finished we really didnt have any light left:

Kinda gets dark early this time of year. The car still looked great but the owner was kind enough to shoot some photos they took the next day while they were out on their road trip. Now these photos were very interesting - they were at a historical car site, but it actually had a charge station for a brand new Tesla…very interesting contrast and almost like seeing the two extremes of a automotive time line in one real life picture:

Personally, i thought the photos were very cool and i was glad they shared them with us.

Hope you guys enjoyed the write up. Next week a black Tesla is coming in and MAN is it the polar opposite of this one. Swirled and marred and just…yea…like i said - the opposite of this one. It will be a more extreme turn around thats for sure - but in the mean time I hope you enjoyed seeing this little lovely covered in Finest.

Well the paint is decent to work with but ive heard some horror stories about the black ones…as far as them being very difficult to finish down completely mar free and the amount of sanding marks, buffer trails etc left on them. And from the looks of the one we bid last week and will do next week…it appears to be true. We'll see how workable the paint is next week :)

:props:Good stuff for sure!

Beautiful Job!

Thanks guys, really appreciate it - just posted another one on a Regal GS we did - wheels off on that one, hope you enjoy :)

Great job!

Just wondering for any of you who know and would like to answer. Opti coat seems to be very durable but not offer as much shine as CQuartz, is the extra shine that significant from CQuartz? And Does CQuartz offer as much durability as i've read from Opti Coat reviews?

I got a lot of shine from Opti Coat, but I could have gotten more from CQuartz?

Thanks guys,
