when you dry the panel after washing it with ONR, do you use

1 damp microfiber wipe and then dry microfiber wipe

or

2 a single waffle weave wipe?

I use 1 well-wrung MF wipe then go over my whole car with Aquawax.

Damp microfiber (same grade as the towel used for the wash). I like the 450gsm purple towels for rinseless washes.

Waffle weaves and drying ONR go together like peanut butter & jelly.

I have been doing it the first way, which is how I originally saw Garry Dean do it. I recently watched his updated video using the waffle weave for drying, and I'm interested in trying that. By eliminating a step I'm hoping that it helps reduce the potential for scratches.

Same here. My bucket has 2 mf's. The second one gets wrung out as much as possible, then used to absorb excess solution. If I'm not using a spray wax drying aid, the waffle-weave is the last step.

sry forgot to ask: which way do you think is better?

I am scared to use dry waffle weave directly on washed panel: if some dirt missed from the initial wipe, a dry waffle weave has more chance scratching the paint then a wrung out microfiber+dry microfiber.

I use a microfiber wash mitt for my ONR wash, then spray with a wax boosting detail spray, then dry with a dry waffle weave.

I use a MF wash mitt, microfiber towel, then microfiber towel. Call me old school, but if isn't broke Dont fix it.

Have done hundreds and hundreds of onr washes and almost exclusively use it.

What method do you use with WW? Feed back please

With a waterless wash I would use a waffle weave towel. I've seen many people use plush towels. Either way works

I use a waffle weave along with a spritz of OPT Instant Detailer and Gloss Enhancer.

Done it both ways. A quick pass with a damp towel makes the final pass with a waffle weave ten times easier. Especially when it's really cold and liquids are tougher to absorb.

I usually use 8-10 mf's and a single bucket to do a rinseless wash. Lately I've been using a Dry Me Crazy or Waverider WW towel for drying and they're both great. I've used both methods you described, and while the damp wipe definitely helps with drying, I have not seen scratches or swirls from going straight to the drying towel.

That being said, I think it's more important to be careful/mindful of your technique - ie. checking your towel often, how/where you're wiping or blotting, how much pressure you're applying, etc. :xyxthumbs:
