First time using GG 3 inch

So I finally got some time to play around with the GG that I ordered on black friday from AG.

Here is some stuff that I ordered:

I ended not using the DP products this time and I used some Meg's stuff that I had around in my house

I just ended up just polishing the rear end of my 2013 Accord.
It has very noticeable swirls

I clayed the rear end with a Meg's clay bar. The trunk had some contamination:

Once I got done with the clay I started to use the M205 with the small 3 inch cyan pad and it really wasn't getting rid of the swirls :(
Unfortunately I dind't have some Meg's M105 or Ultimate compound to try out. Then I remembered that I had some old 3M rubbing compound that I've in the house for some years. This 3M created a lot dust, maybe because it was really old not sure, but it did remove more of the swirls than the M205 did.
Here's my best attempt had capturing a 50/50 but I suck at it :(

I ended up using the 3M compound but I can't wait to try out some M105.
I finished up using the Meg's cleaner wax and finishing with Meg's Ultimate wax applied by the Griot's:

Hopefully I'll get better the more I practice and when I get to use my brother's Meguiar's DA polisher. I ordered some soft buff pads to try out but I couldn't use the Meg's DA today.

Get some Rupes 4" pads to go with this polisher. They work great!

How do you like the polisher? I was ready to pre-order the rupes 75e mini for intricate work but hell...for $99 compared to $299! :-0

What speed were you using on the GG3?

As many will say, and I concur with them, for polishing with this tool, there's only one usable speed, and that is full out, on #6.

M205 with this tool on 6, and the right pad should be able to get rid of swirls.

Other pads that you could also try, are Meg's 4", and as well, Griots own 3" Pad, which are proably the thinnest-lightest of the foam pads out there.

I've noted such as others, the baby Griots is a bit tricky with pad rotation, and keeping the pad spinning. Any speed lower than 6 is pretty much useless for correction.

I see Rupes carries both Foam and MF 4" Pads. Which are you referring to?

I'm thinking maybe the Rupes 4"MF Pad might work pretty nice on the Baby Griots? Lighter weight, thinner, and maybe more aggressiveness might enhance the GG3's abilities for correcting dismal condition paint?

Haha I like it a lot. It fits in a lot of spaces. Yeah I wanted a Rupes but you definitely can't beat $99.

Were these the 4" Hydrotech Pads you used?
I did use speed 6. Yeah I would like to try other pads. I think these were the hydro pads that came with the kit from GG.

Okay, when I said they worked "great" I spoke in too general terms.

- Rupes 4" pads enhance the performance of the GG 3" polisher, but you must still use lots of pressure, work very slowly, and allow plenty of time to break down the polishes.

- There is no comparison between the GG 3" polisher and the Rupes 3" polisher(s) whatsoever.

Other brand 3" pads that I hadn't thought of earlier, are two that are made by 3M.

These are convoluted Pads, and perhaps while maybe their intended use was to be with a rotary with the proper backing plate, I wonder how these would work on the GG3?

Was thinking that because of the waffle design, maybe they might have less tendency of bogging down the GG3 ?

Anyone ever try these on a DA?

I've found the mf polishing pads work great w/ the GG3 machine but speed setting of 6 is still a must but does do the trick on tasks I've asked of it. BTW, M205 is more of a finishing polish, so why would you try and correct with it unless the swirls were VERY light. The use of mf pads, Meg's UC or Meg's M101 would work great!

MF pads or nothing with the GG 3". It doesn't have the power to really correct with foam pads(especially th thick ones). Pick up some Meg's 3" or Rupes 4" MF pads.

Yes. I'd go with the Meg's 3" MF cutting pads cuz they're even lighter and smaller. Problem is, they're not the most durable. Either will do great.
