Black Tahoe, swirls breakfast lunch and dinner

Hey guys, first time posting here on autogeek, I've been detailing about 10 years, been with my current employer about 5.

Anyway, I'm lead detail at a Ford dealership, and we run an external detail shop, in addition to the typical used-car-for-the-lot details.

Had this guy bring his wife's black Chevy Tahoe in the other day, he said other than when he bought it, it's never been waxed, and only ever seen drive-thru car washes. I'm guessing they wash with sand.

This thing was rough. I have tons of before pictures, but they all look about the same. Horrendous swirls and spider scratches covering this thing top to bottom.

Not a huge fan of the #7, but it's our 'house' glaze.

It's taken awhile, but I think people around here are finally starting to realize not every dealership washes with a mop :D

If used properly, the montana boars hair with a foam gun is a killer combo on big vehicles like this

Makita 9227c and PC7424xp.

Hopefully Christmas will be replacing the makita (excellent as it may be) with a Flex.

I did find the side panels to have a noticeably harder clear than the hood, but it may have just been this vehicle. As far as working time, that's more product dependent. The front quarters gave me the most trouble on this one, though as I said, it may have just been this vehicle.

One of the guys who taught me, and I tell everyone I teach, is that you can always do more, but you can't go back. This thing did seem to hologram a bit more than usual after the 105, but it wasn't too far out of line from the same precautions I take on any new to me vehicle I'm correcting.

The roof is a killer and has a sunroof

Can't reach 1/3 of the hood without a step ladder

Rear plastic pillars are really soft. Polish only, no need to compound them.

My '09 corrected well with M105 on Orange CCS followed by WGTSR on White CCS. I followed with WG Finishing Glaze, but didn't see much improvement.

I own one of these trucks also in black (Yukon) + have worked on 2 other black GM trucks and I will tell you right now for SOME strange reason a oddly high percentage of these trucks get partially resprayed at dealerships after they are freighted in via train.
First thing I noticed when I got my truck off the lot with 150 miles was the hood was repainted along with both quarter panels. The hood is extremely hard clear compared to the very soft quarter panel a. Just goes to show you ALL vehicles are different even same models.

I spent about 9 hours on this, he didn't want the roof done, "I'm just putting a cargo box up there anyway" and the bumpers were toast with road rash and bug juice that had eaten through the clear. Love bugs are super acidic and ruin paint pretty quick. After years of being left on, it needs to be painted.
