Finally got around to doing a co-workers Black Ford Escape...got egged and it etched into the paint pretty bad...now I have her mom, grandma, and boyfriend all lined up for details :awesome:

Process:

WASH

Foam Cannon filled with MEGS NXT....needed to bring out the harsh stuff for this one..

CLAY

Generic gray clay that marred the crud out of the paint but I knew I was polishing so no biggie

WHEELS AND TIRES

PB Spray and Rinse...still the best stuff period...loosened the grit enough for my power washer to do the work...no scrubbing what so ever.....these wheels had 3 years worth of brake dust baked on them...and it came right off after letting it sit...only had to apply once...

EXTERIOR TRIM

As with the usual Ford econo route this thing was loaded with plastic trim along the base of the car...a little VRP and it was all shined up!!

PAINT CORRECTION

Lake Country CCS pads and Menzerna got the call of duty again on this one...SIP with and orange pad on the tough parts...and a green pad and 106ff finished off the entire car...the part that got etched with egg i went straight to 3m perfect-it III compound

LSP

Went the sealant route as this is a car that wont see much love over the next couple months....

PICS!!!!!

Looks like a car from a repo yard in this pic

A picture of compounding swirls that would scare most rookies :)...this is where the egg was etching into the paint...

Overall a fun car to do...had some fun using 3m again...been a couple years since i used the perfect it II line that required respirators and eye protection :) glad they did away with that with the improvements to the perfect-it III line

Special thanks to Menzerna for helping me not hologram the crap out of the paint and autogeek for my new polishin pal that I dont know how I lived without it...saves a lot of hand cramping when putting lsp on a big car...if you dont have one it is a definite must have!!!!..........Feed back please

p.s. No interior pics .....sorry....was vaccumed...my little green clean machine and some folex was used on the interior...and 303 protectant on all the interior plastic and vinyl....overall time on this bad boy...3.5 hours.....black always takes me an extra half hour to 45 minutes...

WOW! Looks very nice! Love the way black looks when detailed. What kind of sealant did you use? You didn't mention...

P.S. I think I need to try some of the Spray and Rinse stuff...

I agree with coupe, compunding swirls is wicked.

Nice picture of what you are left with though, nothing to be afriad off really ;).

Man you do some nice work there orngez and you are fast too wow 3.5hrs man that's fast oh did you use the rotary? I'm assuming you did. That PB Spray and Rinse sounds good, may have to give that a try soon.

Thanks for sharing, vehicle looks great.

Another great Menzerna restoration! Man you are fast. That would've taken me 6 hrs at least! LOL I can't wait to get my Menzerna on Friday after seeing all these great Show and Shines with it...

I agree with coupe, compunding swirls is wicked.

I think they look cool and knowing that the next step is going to restore the finish to perfection really gets me excited.

menzerna really is great stuff...the ceramiclear 106ff is amazing on regular clear coats...most of the time i can just one step it on moderately swirled areas and finish lsp ready...a definite time saver...often does all the correction before it is fully broken down using the green lc or green edge pad...

I love forum contraband!!! But seriously, that is some great work there. Very impressed with the Poorboys Spray & Rinse, that looks like some STRONG stuff. Which is very good, of course...

Great work! Love how black shines and reflects when detailed. I enjoy looking at what Menzerna does. I got it now and love the way it works and jewels the paint. Thanks for the great review.
