This point is moot for some of you since you carry so many polishers. I like to travel light, though. I take my rotary, my Dynabrade attachment, and my DA on every job and that's it!
As I was polishing the hood of a regular customer's Range Rover with some 205 and the Dynabrade, my buffer cut out! It would restart, but cut out again. I then realized it had been probably three years since I last changed the brushes and the Hitachi cuts all power to the motor when a certain wear point is reached. I used to change them yearly, but now that I don't do as many cars as I used to, it kind of fell of my radar.
I was able to finish the 205 stage with my DA, but now I have to schedule him out in two weekends to perform a little extra jeweling work I promised him. The customer understood, but ultimately not having a $10 part on hand just cost me at least 6 hours of labor:nomore:
