After applying 2 coats of 845 on my white car a bird dropped a wad of poop on the hood today. I used some ONR QD mix to get it off but there was a spot left after which I used some collinite 840 non abrasive cleaner to get it out. The spot is out but I wonder did the 840 wipe out the 845?

Just wondering. I wonder if you can check by checking if that area still beads?

I have had that happen too. I dont know whats what. Its happened to a few waxes Ive tried.

This si my first time trying Collinite 476. Im hoping I get great durability over the winter. I did two coats about 1.5 days apart.

The way Collinite describes #840 is that it's a:
Mild-cut pre-wax cleaner. (To me that means it's abrasive)

It's MSDS even lists:
Silica (Flux calcined diatomaceous earth) CAS# 68855-54-9, as one of the hazardous ingredients.

A thought:
Maybe that's why Collinite states: "NOT recommended for darker-toned clear coat paint"...
(whatever is meant by "darker-toned CC-paint" :dunno:).

If it were me:
I'd re-do the #845 to at least the area
affected by the bird doo-doo and #840.

Yeah pretty simple, just clean the area and re-apply. Its good to know that #845 did its just as nothing was etched!

I would 3rd this. Re-apply some 845 to the area and you should be good to go.

Just a heads up, in my experience ONR seriously degrades 845. They really don't play well together.

I wonder if you've got hard water or something, this is a first.

For some reason it doesn't come up very often. I noticed the issue after doing an ONR QD wipe down. Googled it to see if anyone else had experienced this, and found out that its a pretty well documented issue.

If you google "ONR and 845" you will find threads from other sites.
