Trying to fix this myself and avoid paying 1200$ to have both sides repainted. The metal looks fine with a beginning or rust. I'm guessing the previous touch up attempt wasnt done correctly, the paint was flaky and fell off.

I would like to hear your input.

I bought spray can primer, BSM color match and clearcoat. And will also grab a "color fusion" product that is supposed to blend old and new paint.
Process would be:
1 - Remove rust (thinking about CLR, sanding with grit 300 or a rust converter)
2 - Clean surface with IPA
3 - Sand with grit 1000 to "smooth down" the separation between old paint and new paint.
4 - Tape and protect surroundings
5 - Sprayprimer and wait for it to cure
6 - Spray color and wait for it to cure (3 times)
7 - Spray Clearcoat (2 times)
8 - Spray the "Color fusion" on the separation of old and new paint (or overspray the color and clearcoat on the old color then wetsand?)
Also do I need to sand after each layer?
Thanks for your time and advice!
