Hi Guys.
I was contacted by this customer for a CQuartz Finest coating for his car. Went to view it and as it was full of swirls a 2 day detail was booked.

On the day as you can see the swirls were pretty bad, so out with the Rupes and wool.

Being German paint I broke out the Scholl S2 and Scholl wool pads for the initial compound on the 21mm BigFoot. People say you shoud not use wool on a bigfoot but as I don't like microfibre pads I went with a combo that may be wrong but works for me.

The cut was followed with the Rupes Green pad with S17 then refined with the Rupes 15mm machine with the white pad with Megs 205, one of my favorite finishing polishes.

Two wipe downs with Eraser then two good thick coats of CQuartz finest applied, I also applied it to the wheels, glass, inside doors, inside trunk and hood, well everywhere really.

After the coating I wheeled the car outside to cure for a hour or so as the panel temperatures were over 40c in the sun.

On with the pics.

After compounding and polishing, then ages spend cleaning the badges.

Just wondering: why do people say you should not use a wool pad on a Rupes?

Not going to say who, but I heard that combo might work, but they did say to try the least aggressive method first.

Yes I know, but knowing German paint you need to hit it hard. I hate microfibre pads as they heat up and the pile just flattens so no real cutting.

I would not use wool on my Kia, well I did and spend ages getting the marring out, but on German paint you can hit it hard with no marring. The German paint is so hard, compared to the Range Rover I did today and corrected it with the Rupes yellow pad and S17.

Thank you MirrorFinish. I might be approaching this combo as well. That is why I asked. Just have never tried it.

Again thanks,
