Hello guys,

Well a little intro first since it's my first post. I have been reading and watching a lot of video's on this forum. I have been learning and taking in as much info as I possibly can.

I am not new to car care, but in past years I have paid professionals to do the hard jobs and I do my best at maintaining my cars. Like many on here I was afraid of doing more harm then good when it came to using a polisher, and pro grade products. However in the last few weeks I decided to educate myself and start doing more challenging paint care projects.

I started with my 2013 GTI, and using products already in my inventory. I got lucky and found a Rupes 21ES locally for sale, and ordered the Groits 3" DA from AG. The products I had on hand were Auto Glym polish and sealer. It all went well and I am happy with the results, however I wanted to try some more higher end products so I made an order with eShine for some Klasse, and iron X products and went to work on my wife's car, which is a 2012 TDi sport wagon.

My question is in regards to my last step. I applied Klasse High Gloss Sealant and waited almost 2 hours for the sealant to dry. Unfortunately I could't wait much longer as my wife needs her car for work the next day, and I didn't want to be working on her car till 3 in the morning.

The sealant did not seem dry, so either I put to much on, or didn't wait long enough for it to dry. I was having a very hard time removing haze, so I used some auto glym rapid detailer spray to help remove the haze. I used it very very lightly.

So now to the actual question... LOL. Did using spray wipe off all the sealant, or did it just help me remove the haze and my paint is still protected by the sealant?

It left a very nice finish and looks very good, I'd say as good or better then it did when we got the car new. So as far as "looks" I am happy, I just want to make sure my paint is still protected as winter is near.

Why did you leave it on for 2 hours? 20-30 minutes then buff off. You might have residule haze the next day from how it sets up. That's why you wait 12 hours between each coat. Did you use AIO as a base? I always do. One coat of red bottle then a coat of grey right after followed by another grey coat the following day.
If you can see it then you applied too much. It has always been a jolted for me to remove the sealant glaze.

The car should be protected.

Welcome!

Ok guys, I uploaded some pictures of my GTI after I did the Job with My Rupes DA and Auto Glym products.

Unfortunately I just finished my wife's car shortly before I made the post and the car is in the garage so the pictures won't show finish.

So hope you enjoy the pics of the GTI.

DavidG,

The reason I waited that long is because after 20-30 min it was not dry. I checked every 10-15 min after that and it never changed, it never "hazed" and became dry. So after 2 hours I improvised and used the rapid detailer to help remove and polish. It was the first coat of the sealant, and I plan to put another next time I wash her car, hopefully before the first snow... damn I hate winter...

I used the AIO, however as mentioned I can't wait 12 hours between each application. Plus I don't see where it says I have to wait 12 hours. I know it's better, but I simply don't have the time to wait. My main concern was protection. Yes I love a better then new finish, but at this time of year, protection is more important.

I think I just simply put to much of the sealant on and it "caked" on.

Newbie here. I use the Klasse AIO and SG. (After Claying) As it's been said hundreds of times here (Thanks to the AG Forum BTW) THIN THIN THIN with the SG. I've never had a problem. So thin I can barely tell it's on the paint. I garage for the weekend. AIO then have a cold one and start with SG. 3 coats. Wait 12-24 hours between coats. As Mike says, "All good things come to those who wait." Top with 845 a week later and Pinnacle Spray Wax after a wash. I've seen "How tos" on another site where the detailer uses QD to remove. So it doesn't affect the protection. I like to spray the towel lightly to wipe the SG. Then buff out with a fresh towel and done for 6 months. And wait for the next BOGO!

If it's not dry you probably have paint too cold for the product. However, the fact you needed spray to remove it means it's bonded which is good.
