Finishing Polish - How fine do they finish?

How fine is fine enough a finishing? 7000 grit?

Dont really refer to polishes in terms of grit. Most are seperated by the type of abrasive they use in them be it either diminishing or not. Different manufacturers have different levels of cut for their line of polishes and there is a list around the forums somewhere or a chart i should say comparing most of them I'll ty to link to it here...
How fine? That's up to you some people are satisfied to finish with a compound for example M105 can finish down pretty nice but can still be refined by M205 or something like 85rd. Paint system dictates as well.. point being there are a lot of variables so there isn't an easy answer.
