Hi it's been a while since I have posted.
I just completely detailed my friends car.
The is 3 years old never had wax or paint sealant applied.
I washed the car twice to get the surface dirt off the paint.
I put a paint sealant on the vehicle.
The paint felt rough to the touch.
Not contaminants but paint with no protection.

Should I have used a polish on it first?
Also I have used a rotory before a long time ago.
When using the Rb. Do I lay down a bead on the paint and let the rotary catch the material. I forgot?
I did purchase Mikes videos but it's been so long.
I have an old hood I can practice on first.
I did use a da on the Volvo.
Thank you,
For the help!
Nick

Did you clay the paint? That will remove the above surface bonded contamination. Using the claybar will also make the sealant last a bit longer.

Clean Wheels & Tires
Wash Vehicle using two bucket method
Clay/Decontaminate Vehicle to remove bonded contaminates
Polish to remove surface defects (if needed)
Wash Vehicle to remove polishing residue and dust
Apply Protection
Dress tires, trim, clean glass, etc etc

^The very basics steps to a thorough detail

Unprotected paint will not feel particularly rough - it may feel "not so slick"... contaminated paint will be rough. Be sure to utilize the baggie test to determine if your paint is contaminated.
