Dear Friends

I know this guy (http://jalopnik.com/meet-the-guy-who-drove-across-the-u-s-in-a-record-28-h-1454092837). He and his accomplices hold the record for driving across the US in the least amount of time.

Ed married our friends' and neighbors' daughter, Megan.

The guy is super-smart. He owned and operated Supercar Rentals of Atlanta before he graduated from college. In this business he leased Lambos, Ferraris, Bentleys, Benzes, and other vehicles to folks who wanted such vehicles for a few hours to a few days.

I can't imagine making such a trip, but Ed prepared for it for a long time and got the job done.

I once knew someone famous. It was:

from Happy Days. He was related to the kid down the street from me in 1st grade.

Oddly enough, the only other "famous" person I've ever really met was Pat Morita, who preceded Big Al on the show.

I ran into Pat on a flight into Dallas TX in 1997.

Isn't that odd?

I'm friends with Retired Washington Redskins Darrell Green's son, Jared Green. Went to different schools but grew up and hung out with each other most of our grade school years. That's as close as I'll ever personally know a celebrity.

I know a few people who are legends in their own minds.
Not sure if that counts.

I worked in Hollywood almost all my life.

Supplied equipment to both the legitimate and porn industries.

Met a lot of people. From ornery to nice,

Ron Jeremy was the funniest.

Chuck Heston had the best gun collection.

Phyllis Diller was the nicest.

Elizabeth Taylor had the best jewels.

And Fabio Lanzoni just wanted to talk about his cars and Hi-Fi. Just like a normal guy. But his publicist always had him booked to be seen with some new Hollywood cutie on his arm for the free publicity.

And the "celeb" that was the most fun and had the best line of BS was Wolfman Jack (Bob Smith)

But the most important thing about everyone I worked with is that all their checks cleared.

Dear oldmodman

That's quite a list!

My wife's cousin works on movie sets. They're filming pieces of Dumb and Dumber 2 here in Atlanta and he's working behind the camera and earning a good living. He sees celebrities nearly every day. He says the fastest way to get fired is to act starstruck and ask for pictures with them.

I believe the guy I linked to in my original post is an interesting person. He's loved cars since he knew they existed, he made a business out of leasing Lambos and Ferraris before he graduated from college, and now he's the fastest to cross America in a car. The man has drive and smarts. I can't wait to see what else he does.

Dear oldmodman

I saw Fabio on Leno one night. He said he'd just gotten a new car and had put a 4500-watt audio system in it.
