So this is kind of a combination of two vehicles. One is done on my dd 98 Honda Accord coupe, while the other is a 2008 Toyota Tundra that is my client's vehicle.
The purpose here is to show off Son1c Wax Protowax 38 and the differences between Carnaubavore as well as to show my work a little bit.

We will start off with the detail on my 98 Accord.

Got my Son1cWax Protowax 38 as a prize from the Facebook/forum contest (as well as Carnaubavore #47) and was sure to try the Protowax out immediately.

Initial thoughts:
- The smell reminds me of the green Sodalicious fruit snacks! A very soda style smell. While good, it's not as good as Carnaubavore.

http://brandedexplorer.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/untitled.jpg

- Next is that it is a hard wax. I am used to using what would be considered a soft paste wax, or a creme paste wax. Protowax 38 is hard, but is still easy to swipe off from the pot. If anyone has ever opened a fresh container of creamed honey and seen that hard layer across the top, this is what it reminds me of.

- To apply, I used a foam applicator and swiped the wax from the top of the pot three times. While it may seem like it didn't even make a dent in the wax, you will have got a significant amount of wax on the applicator. This wax will go a LONG WAY.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/Electrokid14/Detailing/IMG_2957_zpsec5cec37.jpg

- I found that you want to apply really thin. If you think you are not applying enough, you definitely are wrong. Two or three swipes on the applicator is enough, otherwise you are going to apply too thick. It is better to have to swipe from the pot often, rather than to apply this product too generously.

- Hazing time: About 20 minutes is ideal. I tried the swipe test (running finger) after about 15 minutes and I found that it had not hazed to my satisfaction. It also could have been due to my conditions as I was detailing in about 57ºF, so it was a little chilly.

- Something I noticed with the removal of this product is that you cannot simply wipe it off. You must do a two-step removal (wipe off, flip towel, then buff). With most paste waxes I have used, you can simply wipe the product off, but I found with Protowax 38 you must buff it to gain extreme clarity on the paintwork. I found that bringing in a whole new microfiber after wiping and buffing would help to get the clarity I had hoped for.

- The wax is a little grabby, but if I was struggling with removal in any location, I simply put a single spritz of quick detailer (Optimum No Rinse Quick Detailer dilution) onto my towel and it helped remove the product that was being stubborn. Regardless, buffing this wax off helps to "keep the pimp hand strong."

- I am testing Protowax 38 on my daily driver here (98 Accord coupe) and will be checking on results over the winter - which are extremely harsh here in Manitoba. Lots of snow, -40º weather, and roads that are sanded/salted daily. I will be sure to update during the winter to see how it is holding up.

-Process I used on the paintwork:

Ricardo yellow clay
D300 on a Microfiber cutting pad
M205 White pad
ONR Waterless wash
Jetseal 109 to seal
Protowax 38 as LSP

Sorry for the dark pictures. I was detailing in my own personal garage and it was around 1am when I was taking the pictures.

Now onto the Toyota Tundra.

Started off as a nightmare. I had the client scheduled in for noon. I went into church with temperatures sitting around 41ºF. By the time I came out at 11am it was 26ºF and was a blizzard outside. I was determined to get this truck prepared for the harsh Manitoba winters so I called up my friend and he opened up his shop for me to work in for the day which helped me out a ton.

I washed the wheels and exterior outside still (BRRRR it was cold - especially when the nozzle popped off the hose and doused me) and then brought it inside and dried it with a leaf blower and then pat dried with my waffle drying towel.

The biggest thing this client needed was the interior cleaned. He opted for my most expensive detailing package, and he got his money's worth.

This truck is massive. It has the oversized cab with the reclining back seats...

Here are some shots of the interior. He owns a large dog that rides inside, as well as owns a landscaping/lawn care business.

Taped off ready to clean as a test spot.

50/50 on the arm rest. Yikes
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/Electrokid14/Detailing/IMG_2977_zps0e63a76a.jpg

50/50 on the back seat. Still had quite a lot of work to do even on the 'cleaned' part.
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/Electrokid14/Detailing/IMG_2978_zps72bb7fbc.jpg

Interior ended up taking me two hours longer than I expected. It was disgusting. Leather was cleaned with Lexol leather cleaner and then conditioned with Lexol leather conditioner.

Exterior was not too bed. Swirls were apparent, but there were a lot of serious scuffs all over from the dog as well as landscaping equipment.
Vehicle was washed with a combination of Dawn and some CG Honeydew Snow Foam (for added lubricity). Was then dried with waffle weave microfibers and leaf blower.

Getting it all clean, I clayed the paint with the medium grade Nanoskin block using Optimum No Rinse as my lubricant.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/Electrokid14/Detailing/IMG_2981_zps22c57b64.jpg

I did not take many 50/50 shots of polishing as I started to realize that this was taking me much longer than expected and the client needed the vehicle back by 11:30pm.

Here is my test spot on the hood checking to see if 205 (right) would work well enough, but it did not. So I had to use 105 (left).

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/Electrokid14/Detailing/IMG_2984_zps3b7bd036.jpg

Process on the paint was 105 orange pad all around and then 205 white pad all around. Stubborn scuffs were wet-sanded out by hand with 3000 grit wet-sand paper.
For the 105 I added one drop of 205 each time I added more 105 and that kept the dusting down significantly which made things much easier.

Here are some pictures after the polishing. Paint finished out very nicely, and had a nice deep metallic reflection.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa299/Electrokid14/Detailing/IMG_3002_zps3107ceaf.jpg

I then sealed up the entire truck with two coats of Jetseal 109 and then topped it all off with Son1c Wax Carnaubavore which is now officially my favourite paste wax. The entire shop smelled like Starburst, even when the crew came into the shop the next morning.

Here are the final shots I took. Overall I was extremely pleased with the way she ended up, but I am not sure I want to do a truck that large again anytime soon... though I had a client with a Semi that just sent me an email...

Final thoughts:

It is not hard to see how much Carnaubavore has improved from Protowax 38. While Proto seems to be a good wax, the difficulty in buffing it off turned me away from it a little bit. With the Carnaubavore I was able to use a single microfiber to buff it off which is a huge thing when on a time limit. My client needed the truck back by a certain time, and if I had used Protowax 38 I would have been cutting it really close.

Also, for anyone who is going to comment on the dirt on the wheels (which drove me nuts) it is because the shop I was borrowing had a 50 yard patch of gravel between the parking lot and the shop entrance.

Anyways, thanks for viewing, and thanks to Son1c for the waxes! I am really looking forward to what he turns out in the future.

Great results from the carnaubavore wax on the Tundra. I also
use it as my go too wax. Truck will look good if additional coats are used. Deeper and added gloss will really make it pop..

I too was surprised when taking the final pictures. I couldn't believe how well the paint finished out, and the gloss that it offered. I really like how much metallic flake is in this grey. It's just too bad I didn't get to see it outside since it was late when the customer picked it up.
