I'm back with another one. This is one of my co-workers. About 3 months ago, I applied Collinite 845 just to have some protection on it. Its a garage queen, and he wanted to make it black and shine like a garage queen should. He told me it was dusty, but i thought it would be a thin layer. I was wrong. So here we begin.

I didnt have any interior pics because there wasnt much to do inside.

Exterior:

Dawn Soap

Mothers Clay

M105/D300

M205

IPA

Optimum Tire Gel

MF Pads

White/Blue Pads

PC7424 XP

Total Time: 16 Hours

Upon arrival, this is what it looked like

Water spots just about everywhere

Water spots and swirls

After we washed it down, we could really see what we were working with. You can definitely tell this car has been neglected. He bought the car and only washed it once himself, and I've been the only person to wash it. But I didnt notice it this bad as it was late the last time I started.

You know its bad when you can see the swirls through the water. This is before i soaped it down, atleast Collinite's beading looked good right?!

I dont have as many 50/50 shots because we were limited on time. Actually, we did this together after work, so we would work 7-5, come home and detail until about 830 for 4 nights. I ended up going home and detailing a few nights until 1AM because I knew we wouldnt be done in time before Friday came along. But heres the 1 50/50 I did happen to get.

After compounding the whole hood

Clarity Restored

Pulled it out into the sun to inspect our correction. You can see the holograms from the D300/M105/MF Pad combo.

Polished everything out using a white lake country with M205

Optimum Tire Gel Applied

Once again, pulled it out into the sun to inspect how our polishing stage was. Sooo much better. I must say, this Chevy Clear was a pain in the @$$!! We achieved about 75-85% correction. But from what it looked like before, and now, is night and day.

Did an IPA Wipe on the whole car before applying Collinite 845. Thin thin thin!

And now the money shots. I didnt get to take day pictures because it was about 9 at night when I finished, but my friend had a wedding to go to the following day, so he snapped some pictures. Let me know what you guys think. Enjoy!

Very nice. I will take a black car over any other color because I love the rewards.

So it was tough to work on the corvette clear? Did it just not correct as fast or harder to finish nicely or what made it tough? You did a great job though!

Nice job. The optimum tire gel looks so nice! How are you liking the "m405?"

Nice work! :xyxthumbs:

Did you do a test spot first? 16 hours for two men (32 man hours) is quite a lot of time to spend for only 75% correction IMO.

Huge difference though, don't get me wrong! :)

We only had one buffer, or else we would've been done in no home.

And thanks guys, it was tough to cut. Polishing wasn't too bad, it was just the cutting with a compound and I even used m405 on a microfiber pad.

I think it might also have to do that the porter cable isn't exactly the strongest compared to the flex and the rupes, which I am not contemplating in the future.

Very Nice Work...This 2003 Corvette looks well-heeled all dressed-up in black!

However:
My favorite Corvettes of the 2003 anniversary year were the:
50th Anniversary Editions---Coupe or Convertible.

These had a special appearance package, which included:
-Anniversary Red ("Xirallic Crystal") paint;
-Champagne-painted aluminum wheels and center caps;
-Shale leather interior.

http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/data/500/2003CorvetteAnniversaryEdition-1.jpg (http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/64658)

Even though 2003 marked Corvette's 50th Anniversary year...
Not all 2003 Corvettes are Anniversary Editions.
This optional package was not available for 2003 ZO6's.

:)
